MCC NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Resignation Live Till Sept 2

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has activated the online seat resignation facility for NEET UG 2026 Counselling Round 1. Allotted candidates who wish to surrender their seats can apply online at mcc.nic.in until September 2, 2026. The window is open to both freshly allotted and upgraded candidates.

The facility allows candidates to surrender their Round 1 seat online. They no longer need to visit the allotted college in person. However, the resignation letter must be generated online through the MCC portal.

MCC conducts All India Quota (AIQ) UG medical counselling for MBBS and BDS seats. It also handles admissions to Central and Deemed Universities. The Round 1 final seat allotment result was declared on August 24, 2026.

Who Can Use the Online Resignation Facility?

Only Round 1 allotted candidates can use this facility. Both freshly allotted and upgraded candidates from Round 1 are eligible. Non-allotted candidates do not need to submit a resignation request.

Candidates who have already reported to their colleges can also apply. They may use the same online facility to withdraw. However, the resignation must be routed through the allotted institute for it to be considered valid.

The facility covers seats in government colleges, Central institutes and Deemed Universities. It also covers AFMS, AIIMS and JIPMER seats allotted during Round 1.

What Happens if the Resignation Is Not Generated Online?

MCC has specified a strict online-only process for Round 1 resignation. The resignation letter must be generated online by the allotted college. If this step is skipped, the resignation will be treated as null and void.

The candidate will then be treated as admitted in Round 1 and may not be allowed to participate in Round 2 counselling. MCC’s security deposit and forfeiture rules will also apply.

Deemed University candidates may risk losing the full security deposit upon resignation. Government college candidates may receive the deposit back after the prescribed process. The exact conditions are listed in the MCC NEET UG 2026 counselling handbook.

Difference Between Seat Resignation and Upgradation

Candidates have two options after the Round 1 allotment: they can either resign the allotted seat or opt for upgradation in Round 2. Both options are available through the MCC portal until September 2, 2026.

Seat resignation means surrendering the allotted seat and becoming eligible to register for Round 2, subject to MCC rules. Upgradation allows candidates to retain their current seat while seeking a better allotment in the next round. Candidates should carefully review the applicable rules before making a decision.

Why This Matters

The online resignation route saves candidates a costly trip to the allotted college. It also creates a clean, time-stamped record of the withdrawal on the MCC portal.

Action Plan for Candidates

Candidates planning to resign should complete the following steps in order.

  1. Log in to the MCC portal at mcc.nic.in well before the deadline.
  2. Take a final call on whether to keep the allotted seat.
  3. Submit the online resignation request through your candidate login.
  4. Follow up with the allotted college to generate the online letter.
  5. Save the confirmation slip and note down the reference number.
  6. Register afresh for Round 2 once the notification is released.
Keep an Eye On

The MCC will soon release the NEET UG 2026 Round 2 counselling schedule and seat matrix. Track mcc.nic.in for the official notice.
