New Delhi: Today, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated Project Odiserv in Odisha’s Sambalpur. The project aims to provide a Certificate Programme for Banking Finance and Insurance (CPBFI), a 100-hour comprehensive training program provided by Bajaj Finserv.

This initiative, a collaboration between the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and Bajaj Finserv Ltd, aims to equip young graduates in Odisha with the necessary skills for employment opportunities in the financial services sector.

Primarily targeting first-generation graduates, the program is designed to prepare youth from tier-II and tier-III cities for roles within the financial services sector. The launch of Project Odiserv is anticipated to impact the skill development landscape in Odisha significantly, according to an official statement.

The initiative plans to introduce the CPBFI program in 60 colleges across 11 cities and 10 districts in Odisha, including prominent institutions like Bhuban Women’s Degree College, Mathakaragola Degree College, Sambalpur University, and SCS College

Already underway in 30 colleges, the program has enrolled 1100 students and delivered 25,000 hours of training in just two months. Through collaboration with NSDC and Bajaj Finserv, the CPBFI program will extend to 22 states across India, covering over 400 colleges.

The partnership aims to enhance the capabilities of 20,000 candidates initially through the 100-hour program. Developed in collaboration with industry experts, training partners, educational institutions, and psychological health institutes, the curriculum stays current with the dynamic landscape of finance, banking, and insurance.

The partnership with NSDC is set to be featured on Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), a comprehensive information gateway for government-led skilling and entrepreneurship initiatives. This integration ensures that students are academically equipped and excel in the financial sector.

Furthermore, the program will collaborate with banks, financial stakeholders, institutions, and insurance companies to create new student growth opportunities. This includes facilitating access to internships, on-the-job training, and exposure to industry best practices, thereby enriching the learning experience. During the event, Pradhan announced that 1100 students in Odisha have already undergone training through the project, with some securing job offers.
