Periyar University has opened postgraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic year. Candidates can submit online applications until May 31, 2026, with hard copy submissions accepted until June 6, 2026.

Periyar University, Salem has opened online registrations for postgraduate programmes in the 2026-27 academic year. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website periyaruniversity.ac.in until May 31, 2026.

The university offers admission to 30+ postgraduate programmes including MA, MSc, MCA, MBA, M.Tech, M.Ed, and M.S.W. across its university departments and affiliated institutions.

Periyar University is a NAAC A++ accredited state university ranked 94th nationally by NIRF 2025. The university conducts entrance tests for specific programmes while offering direct admission for others based on merit.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline for most programmes. Final-year students are also eligible to apply, subject to passing the final semester before admission confirmation.

The application fee for UG/PG Programmes and B.Voc. courses is Rs. 354, including GST. Candidates applying for M.C.A. and M.Ed. programmes are required to pay Rs. 590, while the application fee for M.B.A. programmes is Rs. 885. For Certificate, Diploma, and PG Diploma programmes, the application fee is Rs. 118, inclusive of GST.

Most postgraduate programmes require a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Specific programmes like M.Sc. Computer Science require relevant undergraduate qualifications.

Candidates from other universities must obtain an eligibility certificate from Periyar University before admission. SC/ST and differently-abled candidates from Tamil Nadu get application fee waiver for one programme only.

Candidates must visit the official website periyaruniversity.ac.in to access the online application portal.
Create a login account and fill in all required personal and academic details accurately.
Upload a recent passport-sized photograph and provide all necessary information as requested.
Pay the application fee through the online payment gateway only.

Required Documents for Application Submission

Print the completed online application form after successful submission. Attach self-attested copies of mark statements from SSLC, HSC, and undergraduate examinations.

Include community certificate and transfer certificate with the hard copy. Send the complete application package to the respective department head on or before June 6, 2026.

Entrance tests will be conducted by respective departments for programmes requiring entrance examinations. The exact dates will be intimated to candidates via email and SMS.

Hall tickets can be downloaded from the university website after test announcement. Results will be communicated through email, WhatsApp, and SMS to registered candidates.

What’s Next for Students

Selection is based on merit and the communal roster system of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Candidates from other states and foreign nationals are considered only under the general category.

Passing the final semester is mandatory to retain admission after selection. The university is not responsible for postal delays or loss of application documents in transit.

Candidates selected through entrance tests will receive admission offers via email. Attend the counselling process and complete fee payment within the specified deadline.

Obtain the eligibility certificate if your degree is from another university. Register for SWAYAM/MOOC courses as mandatory for all PG students from 2022-23 onwards.
