The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 from January 21 to January 29, 2026.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released mandatory instructions and a dress code for candidates appearing in the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination. To ensure a smooth examination process, it is essential for all candidates to strictly adhere to the following guidelines regarding permitted items, prohibited objects, and the required conduct at the test centers.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 from January 21 to January 29, 2026. Paper 1 is scheduled for January 21 through January 24, featuring two daily shifts from 9 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. The examination concludes on the final day with Paper 2, which will be held in a single morning shift from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

JEE Main 2026 Mandatory Dress Code
Avoid Metallic Accessories: He or she should not wear items containing metal, including rings, bracelets, or earrings.
Footwear Restrictions: The candidate is prohibited from wearing shoes or footwear with thick soles.
Simple Attire: It is recommended that the candidate chooses comfortable and simple clothing for the duration of the test.
No Scarves: The candidate must ensure that scarves or similar head/neck coverings are not part of their outfit
JEE Main 2026 Essential Items to Carry
Candidates must bring the following items to the examination center to be allowed entry:
- Admit Card: A clear, preferably color printout of the Admit Card downloaded from the NTA website on A4 size paper.
- Photographs: At least two passport-size photographs (identical to the one uploaded in the application) to be pasted on the attendance sheet.
- Valid Photo ID: An original, valid photo ID as uploaded in the online application form. Photocopies or digital images on mobile phones will not be accepted.
- PwD Certificate: If applicable, the original PwD/PwBD certificate or UDID card issued by a competent authority.
- Specific Items for B. Arch. Candidates: For the Drawing Test, candidates must bring their own geometry box, pencils, erasers, and color pencils or crayons.

JEE Main 2026 Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly banned inside the examination hall:
- Electronic Gadgets: Mobile phones, earphones, microphones, pagers, calculators, electronic watches, cameras, or any other electronic devices.
- Stationery: Handbags, purses, any printed or written material, paper, geometry boxes (except for B. Arch.), and log tables.
- Eatables: General food items and water (loose or packed) are not allowed.
- Special Provisions: Only diabetic students are permitted to carry sugar tablets, fruits (like bananas or apples), and a transparent water bottle. They are still prohibited from carrying packed foods like chocolates or sandwiches.JEE Main 2026 Dress Code and Mandatory Conduct
- Religious Articles: Sikh candidates are permitted to wear religious articles such as a "KARA" and "KIRPAN".
- Biometric Verification: All candidates must undergo biometric attendance and frisking. Those who did not register with Aadhaar must report at least one hour early for manual biometric recording.
- Rough Work: A4-size blank paper for rough work will be provided at the center. Candidates must write their name and roll number on these sheets and drop them in the designated box before leaving, or their answers may not be evaluated.
- Reporting Time: Candidates must arrive at the reporting time mentioned on their Admit Card. No entry will be permitted after the gate closing time.
