Institute of Design at Nirma University has announced that it will offer admissions for the academic year 2025-2026 through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED).

The Institute of Design at Nirma University has announced that it will offer admissions for the academic year 2025-2026 through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). Notably, Nirma University will not participate in the joint admission process conducted by IIT Bombay. Candidates interested in pursuing design programs at Nirma University must follow the university’s separate admission process for the upcoming academic year.

Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs at the Institute of Design will be based on the UCEED scores, which are organized by IIT Bombay, the exam's conducting authority. Students who completed Class XII (or an equivalent qualification) in 2024 or are appearing in 2025 in any stream—be it Science, Commerce, or Arts and Humanities—are eligible to take the UCEED 2025 exam.

Shortlisting and Assessment Process

Following the UCEED exam, applicants who are shortlisted by the Admissions Committee based on their performance will be invited for a situation test and personal interview. This assessment aims to evaluate candidates' general awareness, aptitude, and interests, as well as their ability to articulate thoughts on social and cultural issues through their creative works.

  • Applicants are encouraged to present a portfolio of up to 10 of their works, which may include drawings, paintings, photographs, videos, craft projects, written pieces, and other creative outputs.
  • During the personal interview, candidates must also provide original documents for verification, along with two sets of photocopies of these documents.

Required Documents for Personal Interviews

Candidates must bring the following documents to the personal interview, which will be conducted offline:

  • SSC Examination (Std X) Mark-sheet
  • HSC Examination (Std XII) Mark-sheet
  • School Leaving Certificate or Transfer Certificate
  • Diploma Examination Mark-sheet (if applicable)
  • Latest Passport Size Photograph

Additional Requirements for NRI/NRI Sponsored Applicants

NRI and NRI-sponsored candidates must submit additional documentation, including:

  • Proof of residence of the sponsor (for NRI sponsored applicants)
  • Passports of the applicant and their parents (for NRI applicants)
  • Affidavit from the sponsoring person (for NRI sponsored applicants)
  • Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, if applicable
  • Any other relevant certificates

Provisional Admission Offer

Successful candidates will receive a provisional offer of admission to the Institute of Design at Nirma University, provided they meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates will be notified at each stage of the admission process via the email addresses listed in their online applications. Therefore, applicants should regularly check their email and the university's website for updates. The institute is not responsible for any delays or non-receipt of communications sent to the email address provided. The provisional admission offer is valid only for the specific program selected by the candidate for the current academic session.
