The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) - 2026 for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses. In a recent public notice, the NTA has issued an important advisory for all eligible aspirants to ensure their essential documents are updated well in advance of the online application process to avoid any discrepancies or rejection.
The NEET (UG) 2026 application fee is categorised based on the candidate's group, with General category applicants needing to pay ₹1,700, while those belonging to the General-EWS or OBC-NCL categories will have a fee of ₹1,600. For candidates in the SC, ST, PwBD, or Third Gender categories, the fee is set at a reduced rate of ₹1,000.

NEET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
- Age Limit: Generally, the minimum age is 17 years at the time of admission or by December 31st of the year of admission.
- Citizenship: Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign Nationals are eligible.
NEET 2026 Selection Process
- Online Registration: Candidates must fill out the application form on the official NTA website.
- Entrance Examination: Appearing for the NEET (UG) pen-and-paper-based test.
- Result & Merit List: NTA will declare the results and provide All India Ranks.
- Counselling: Successful candidates participate in MCC (for 15% All India Quota) or State Counselling (for 85% State Quota) for seat allotment.
NEET 2026 Mandatory Documents List

- Aadhaar Card: Must be accurate and updated with the correct Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Photograph, Address, and Biometric Information.
- UDID Card: For Persons with Disabilities (PwBD), the card must be valid, updated, and renewed.
- Category Certificate: (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) must be valid and updated as per current government norms.
- Recent Photographs: Passport size and postcard size (white background).
- Scanned Signatures and Left-hand thumb impression.
