The IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation collaborated to organize the "HIVE Conclave," a pioneering event to facilitate collaboration between researchers and industry professionals, focusing on the theme of 'Leading through problem statement.

New Delhi: The inaugural "HIVE Conclave" organized by the IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation concluded on November 20, at Hotel Pride Plaza, New Delhi. The event aimed to promote collaboration between researchers and industry leaders.
The IIT Mandi event focused on the theme "Leading through problem statement: Following it with Solution Pitch." Attended by numerous researchers and industry professionals, the conclave facilitated discussions on establishing effective partnerships between research and industry to tackle real-life problems through technology.
Some of the prominent industry dignitaries, including Anil Viswas from Samsung Research, KR Venkatadri from Tata Chemicals, Sridharan Thyagrajan of Bumo3dr (Singapore), and Anu Pillai from Wipro, delivered insightful addresses during the event.

The attendees actively engaged in various activities, including discussions, presentations, and talks featuring a keynote address by M Balakrishnan from IIT Delhi, highlighting the importance of "simplicity fostered by user-centric designs."
IIT Bombay professor Anirudha Joshi shared insights into the topic of 'Design Technology solutions for and with Indian emergent users,' while Lieutenant General Anil Kapoor provided insights on 'Human-machine interface: A design thinking perspective from lab to market.'

The conclave commenced on November 18, marked by an inaugural address from IIT Mandi Faculty director Laxmidhar Behera. He commended IIT Mandi iHub for its skill development program, underscoring its focus on skill acquisition and post-training employment. Behera expressed that IIT Mandi is at the forefront of human-computer interaction, with a commitment not only to theoretical research but also to the development of tangible, marketable products.
Behera said that with the collaboration with a consortium of researchers, they are driving four ambitious projects, including an innovative artificial scheme, a bio-manufacturing initiative for printable food, and the crucial development of a made-in-India air ambulance.
Meanwhile, the IIT Mandi iHub has successfully provided skill training to over 180 students, paving the way for numerous job opportunities. Secretary of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Akhilesh Gupta, served as the chief guest during the inaugural ceremony of the conclave.
Expressing his views, he shared the need for a shift in the dynamic of public-private-partnership programs, suggesting that today's startups and industry players should take the lead in creating innovation and impact, contrary to the traditional supporting role played by the industry.
