Separate applications and fees are required if a candidate applies through both the GATE score and the IIT Graduate (Direct Admission) category.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is preparing to open its online application portal for M.Tech admissions for the 2026-27 academic session. Prospective students who have qualified for GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 should stay alert, as the registration window is expected to open in the third or fourth week of March 2026.
This year’s admission cycle offers diverse opportunities across various engineering and humanities departments, including new specializations in Robotics, Electric Vehicles, and Semiconductor Materials Technology. Eligible candidates must ensure they complete the mandatory COAP 2026 registration before applying on the IIT Madras portal.
The Application Fees for the IIT Madras M.Tech 2026 admissions are structured based on candidate categories. SC, ST, PwD, and Female candidates are required to pay a fee of ₹300 per application. For all other candidates, the application fee is ₹600.
It is important to note that if a candidate chooses to apply via both a valid GATE score and as an IIT Graduate, separate applications must be submitted, and the application fee must be paid for each individual submission.
