Full-time MTech and MDes students are eligible for a scholarship of ₹12,400 per month, and students can receive up to ₹60,000 in financial support to present their research work at international conferences.

IIT Gandhinagar New Programs

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has announced the introduction of two specialised postgraduate courses: Master of Design (MDes) and MTech in Maritime Engineering. Set to begin in the 2026–27 academic session, these programs are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical engineering and real-world application.

The MDes track will focus on design thinking and social sciences, while the MTech program aims to support Gujarat’s massive port infrastructure by training experts in maritime logistics and ocean engineering.

As we look at the next decade, the role of higher education institutions must extend beyond disciplinary depth to shaping how knowledge is applied in complex, real-world contexts. Director,  IIT Gandhinagar.

The curriculum for both degrees emphasises practical experience. Students will participate in semester-long projects with research laboratories, startups, and major industries to earn academic credits. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are not just academically proficient but are also ready to tackle the complexities of Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and sustainability.
