IIT Delhi to Establish its Campus in UAE: Education Minister Pradhan; Check Details Here

News Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced that IIT Delhi is all set to establish its campus abroad in the United Arab Emirates. The announcement came after IIT Madras’s decision to open its first-ever overseas campus in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Informing about the overseas campus of IIT Delhi, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared that this campus will help in strengthening the bond between India and UAE in the field of academics and world development. This step is a result of the successful leadership of the two countries.

Earlier, the Pradhan held a meeting with UAE's Minister of State for Early Education, Sara Musallam at IIT Delhi to discuss setting up IIT Delhi's overseas campus in the UAE's capital Abu Dhabi. The official announcement for the campus abroad was also made during the meeting.

He further shared that the Prime Minister of India and the President of the UAE are good friends, resulting in a fruitful long-term relationship between both countries. This campus will inspire students from all over the world to work together and create innovative solutions. 

During the meeting, Education Minister and UAE Minister Musallam inaugurated the Future Changemakers Summer Bootcamp at IIT Delhi. The Bootcamp will aim to provide a unique learning experience to students of both UAE and India.

Earlier, IIT Madras announced that it will establish the first-ever overseas IIT campus in Zanzibar, Tanzania and the classes for students will start in October 2023. The announcement was made by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on July 07, 2023. 

The Minister of External Affairs called this initiative a "historic step" which shows the commitment of India to the developing world. The institute has also signed an MoU to construct the IIT Madras campus in Zanzibar in the presence of Jaishankar and President Hussein Ali Mwinyi of Zanzibar.
