What Is RFID Card Data Capturing?
The RFID card serves as the official campus identity card for IIT Delhi students. It is used for hostel entry, library access and entry into academic buildings. The data-capturing process may include a live photograph and the recording of the candidate’s biometric or personal details.
Candidates who skip RFID data capturing on August 12, 2026, may face delays in receiving their student identity card. This could affect access to hostels, mess facilities, libraries and other central campus facilities.

Late verification windows are rare at IIT Delhi. The August 12 slot is a one-time buffer for candidates who faced genuine issues in July. No further extension has been indicated so far by the institute.
