IIT Bhilai PhD 2025-26 Winter Shortlist Out @itbhilai.ac.in; Interviews from Dec 4–9

IIT Bhilai has released the shortlisted candidates list for its PhD 2025-26 winter semester admission round, and the online application portal is now closed. The institute will conduct discipline-wise written tests and interviews on campus from December 4 to December 9, 2025, as part of the further selection process.

Shortlisted applicants must appear on the scheduled dates with their original documents, failing which their candidature for the December 2025 PhD intake may be cancelled.

When Will IIT Bhilai Hold PhD Entrance Tests And Interviews?

For the 2025-26-W semester, IIT Bhilai will conduct the PhD entrance tests and interviews between December 4 to 9, 2025.

The dates are discipline-specific, with departments such as Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Physics scheduled on December 4, while others like Chemistry are on December 6, and Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are on December 8.

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and Mathematics are scheduled on December 9, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates must carefully check their department-wise schedule in the official notification and reach the venue well before reporting time to avoid disqualification.

Which Departments Have Published PhD Shortlists?

IIT Bhilai has uploaded department-wise lists of shortlisted candidates for the next stage of the PhD selection process. The lists are currently available for:

• Electronics and Communication Engineering
• Chemistry
• Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME)
• Physics
• Electrical Engineering

Each list mentions application IDs / candidate names, category, and any specific instructions related to the test or interview. Candidates should download the relevant PDF and verify their name, discipline and category.

IIT Bhilai PhD 2025-26 Winter Semester Eligibility Criteria

For the PhD 2025-26-W semester, IIT Bhilai requires candidates to have first class with at least 60% marks (or 55% for SC/ST) or equivalent grade in one of the following, in the relevant discipline:

• Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4-year or equivalent)
• Master’s degree in Science, Arts or Social Sciences
• Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Science
• M.Pharm / MBBS / BDS (for Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering, wherever applicable)

In addition, candidates must usually satisfy at least one of these conditions:

• Valid GATE/GPAT/NEET or equivalent score, as per department criteria
• JRF from CSIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT / ICAR / ICMR / ICPR or DST INSPIRE
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
• BTech from an IIT with CPI/CGPA ≥ 8.0

The department-wise criteria (for example, specific GATE papers or NET subjects) are also clearly defined and candidates should cross-check their eligibility with the table provided in the official brochure before appearing for the interview.

After the written tests and interviews are completed, IIT Bhilai is expected to release a final list of selected candidates on its official website. The final selection will be based on a combination of academic record, performance in the written test/interview, research aptitude and fulfilment of department-specific criteria.
