IIM Kozhikode PhD Admission 2026

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM K) has begun applications for its PhD programmes for the 2026 academic year.

The admission process is designed for scholars, academics, and working professionals who wish to pursue advanced research in management disciplines.

The institute offers three doctoral pathways: the Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM), the DPM (Teaching Track), and the DPM (Practice Track), all of which lead to a PhD degree.

The application window opened on November 24, 2025, and candidates must apply online through the official IIM Kozhikode portal. The application fee varies by programme and category. For DPM, the fee is ₹1,000 for general candidates and ₹500 for reserved categories (SC/ST/PwD/NC-OBC/EWS).

IIM Kozhikode PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for IIM Kozhikode PhD, candidates must have a master’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in any discipline.

For the Teaching Track, applicants should have at least three years of teaching or research experience. The Practice Track is open to working professionals with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Candidates must submit their applications online and provide all required documents as specified in the official notification.

Stage 1: Eligibility Verification

Candidates are first screened for eligibility based on their academic records, qualifying test scores (if applicable), and relevant work experience. Only those who meet the minimum requirements proceed to the next stage.

Stage 2: Written Ability Test (WAT) and Doctoral Orientation Conversation

Shortlisted candidates appear for a Written Ability Test and a Doctoral Orientation Conversation. These are held at designated centres in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Kozhikode. This stage evaluates writing clarity, analytical skills, motivation, and suitability for doctoral study.

Stage 3: Doctoral Area Conversation (Online)

Candidates who clear Stage 2 are invited for a Doctoral Area Conversation conducted online by faculty members in their chosen specialisation. This final round assesses conceptual clarity, analytical reasoning, research orientation, and readiness for doctoral research.
