Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship Students’ Journey
The fellows from IIM Kozhikode were stationed in the districts of Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Nagaland, and the NCT of Delhi. The respective State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs) significantly contributed to bolstering the fellows' efforts in fostering the growth of skill development.
According to the press release, the IIM Kozhikode highlighted that the fellows from the institute initiated impactful social projects aimed at supporting disadvantaged and marginalized segments of society, which included transgender tribals, sex workers, and slum dwellers.
These endeavors were designed to assist these groups in securing alternative sources of livelihood.
Moreover, during the tenure of the MGNF program Phase-II in Kerala, the cohort devised the "Policy Recommendations for Kerala's Skilling Landscape" intended for submission to the Government of Kerala. This comprehensive document presents various strategies to confront key challenges associated with skill development, livelihoods, and employment in Kerala.
The document, comprising 15 policy recommendations, is the outcome of thorough research, data analysis, stakeholder consultations, and an intricate comprehension of the intricate connections between skills, livelihoods, and employment, as per the institute's statement.
