IIM Bodh Gaya and NSDC Signed MoU

New Delhi: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bodh Gaya, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Vinita S. Sahay and Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, on July 31, 2023, in New Delhi in the presence of Atul Kumar Towari, secretary of the Ministry of skill development and Entrepreneurship.

The IIM Bodh Gaya and NSDC partnership encompass a wide range of initiatives to create a positive social impact, according to a press release from the institute. Joint research activities and surveys will be conducted to understand industry needs and local aspirations with a focus on developing employability skills, ensuring employment, and raising income levels.

The alliance also aims to empower college students in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by working in tandem with universities and colleges to close the gap between academic instruction and market demands.

By utilising institutional networks and resources, the MoU also aims to encourage grassroots initiatives and social entrepreneurship. While connecting MSMEs and social entrepreneurs to mentorship and incubator support for long-term success, would foster dynamic skill-building programmes tailored to market demands and projected requirements.

It will also aid in boosting the rural economy by providing training in market linkages, marketing, export promotion, and leadership for women.

The IIM Bodh Gaya and NSDC intend to work together on methodologies and experimental designs with a focus on data analytics and artificial intelligence, establishing predictive models for data-driven decisions and upgrading the overall skilling landscape.

The MoU also specifies how inputs for special NSDC projects are to be provided in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas like border regions and aspirational districts. It also emphasises the significance of MSMEs' training programmes, emphasising the need to match them with the demands of the global supply chain and build programmes for entrepreneurship.
