IIIT Allahabad Begins PhD Admission 2026; Check Dates and Fees Here

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad has begun Admission in NEP-based PhD for the January 2026 Session. Interested & eligible applicants from all over the country are invited to apply for admission in the following programs being offered by IIITA, Prayagraj.

The Application has begun on October 30, 2025, and will continue till November 21 for the 2026 session. The shortlisted candidates' list will be published on November 28. Further, the written test (IIITA-PET) and interviews are scheduled for Dec 8 and Dec 9, 2025.

To be eligible for Regular PhD admission, candidates with a B.Tech., M.Tech., M.Sc., or other qualifying degree must have a valid qualifying score from exams like GATE, NET-JRF, or CAT (M.Tech. candidates are exempt from the GATE requirement). Applicants need a minimum of 60% or 6.0 CGPA at the PG level, or 70% or 7.0 CGPA for direct admission after a 4-year UG degree, with final year candidates also eligible to apply. Relaxations for underprivileged classes apply as per the Government of India (GOI) norms.

The admission process involves two stages: Stage I is a 100-mark, two-hour, computer-based screening test (general and department-specific sections) held only at the IIITA Campus.

Candidates exempted from Stage I (like GATE/NET qualified and Working Professionals) and screened-in candidates proceed to Stage II, a Personal Interview, held on the same or the next day. Selection is based on the Evaluation Committee's recommendation and the competent authority's approval. The Institute reserves the right not to fill all seats if suitable candidates are unavailable.

IIIT Allahabad PhD Fee Structure

IIIT Allahabad has also released the PhD fee for 2026. The total fee is approximately ₹2.4 lakhs over six semesters. The first semester is ₹ 71000, which includes the one-time fee of ₹ 5330 that is refundable. After that, the recurring fees are lower but gradually increase annually from about ₹43,100due to rising ancillary charges, all built around the consistent ₹37,000 Tuition Fee.
