New Delhi: Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai has introduced its Fellow Program in Management (FPM). This doctoral program empowers aspiring scholars with the expertise and knowledge essential for excelling in academia and research.
The GLIM FPM program was inaugurated by Dr C Rangarajan, an economist who served as the 19th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, and former Governor of Andhra Pradesh. He currently holds the position of Chairman at Madras School of Economics.
Dr C Rangarajan was accompanied by Prof. Suresh Ramanathan, the Dean and Principal of the Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, marking a significant step forward for the institute by introducing this innovative program.
Chief Guest, Dr. C Rangarajan emphasised that "Research is as important as dissemination of knowledge. Ultimately an institution is justified by not only what is conveyed through existing stock of knowledge but also to create and grow new knowledge. I am happy Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai has taken a bold stride towards this goal”.
Specifications of Great Lakes Chennai Fellow Program in Management 2024
The FPM has world-class faculty and renowned scholars who have conducted extensive research and published in prestigious academic journals. The program aims to train students with the necessary skills and knowledge to publish in esteemed academic journals.
Participants also receive guidance and expertise from leading international faculty through globally based co-advisors and mentors. To boost their research capabilities, they can acquire proficiency in advanced research methodologies, including experimental design, machine learning, and econometric modelling.
In addition to this, participants undergo comprehensive training in effective teaching methods, such as the case method, which prepares them for successful academic careers. The admission process is complex, involving competitive exams like JRF(NET), CAT, XAT, GMAT or GRE and a detailed evaluation of the applicant's profile.
Duration of GLIM FPM Fellow Program in Management 2024
The GLIM FPM Fellow Program in Management 2024 is completed in two phases:
In Phase 1, which is for 2 years, candidates are taught about the comprehensive curriculum of management fields. This is essential to build a solid foundation for their research careers, culminating in the development and presentation of two research papers. Each paper is evaluated by all faculties, helping to build a strong research portfolio.
In Phase 2, which is 3 to 5 years, candidates are in the last phase of completing their doctoral dissertation. With the support of faculty advisors and a dedicated committee, students research their topics, develop a detailed proposal, and ultimately complete their dissertation. After this, students get a Fellow Program in Management (FPM) degree.
Mr. Gautam Lakhamraju, COO & Admissions Director at Great Lakes said, “For the Doctoral Program, in the first year we are looking to select 5-6 scholars with demonstrated potential for research and these candidates will be chosen based on a rigorous selection process based on the competitive test scores as well as academic and professional track records.”
