DU Receive 9500 Applications for ECA Quota Seats, Trials Scheduled Until August 12; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) Admission Process for the academic year 2023-2024 is currently ongoing and has seen an overwhelming response from students applying under the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota.

Delhi University has received more than 9500 applications under the ECA quota for just 1348 seats. As per reports, there were 6849 applicants for admission under the quota for the previous academic year.

The ECA trials to offer DU Admission 2023 are ongoing until August 12. DU ECA Admissions carry a weightage of 25 marks for the CUET, 60 for Physical Trials, and 15 for the Certificates submitted. The best three certificates submitted by the students will be considered to offer DU ECA Admission.

According to Deepti Taneja, co-convenor of, ECA Admissions Committee, "One reason could be that the cultural council in DU is now very vibrant. A lot of activities take place in colleges too. Also, last year there was a delay in the admission process, with private universities accepting many candidates before they applied to DU. This year all universities are following the same admission schedule.”

In the ECA category, Digital Media has around 200 applications, which increased from 97 last year. The Digital Media category includes Photography, Animation, and Filmmaking achievements.

Taneja said why digital media seemed popular "As I was analyzing the certificates, I observed that during the Covid period, when the students were confined to their homes, they enrolled in several multimedia courses. They undertook several projects as part of these courses.”

In the National Cadet Corps, the number of applications also increased from 1748 to 2493. The number of applications under the National Service Scheme category has risen to 638, up from 413 the previous year. Admission for both of these categories will be determined by certificates rather than trials.

Delhi University has instructed aspirants that except in cases when trials are clashing, no other request for a change of trial date will be entertained.
