Delhi University organised the orientation session for the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme for the June-August session on June 7. 140 selected Interns will receive a monthly stipend of INR 10,500.
New Delhi: Delhi University conducted the orientation program for its Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) on June 7, 2024. The DU VC professor Yogesh Singh was the chief guest at the event.
As per Delhi University, 140 candidates are selected among 6464 applications for the 2024-25 academic session. Among those 6464 applicants, 1542 students with an SGPA of 8.1 or more in the last exam were selected for the 3-day-long group discussion (GD) round.
Key Highlights of DU Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme 2024
The interns will be engaged in 45 different branches or sections of the university during the internship program which will take place from June 7 to August 6, 2024. The selected interns will be given a stipend of INR 10,500 per month.
The DU Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme 2024 is scheduled for 15-20 hours per week which will be flexible for the interns. Students who complete the internship will get a certificate from the Dean of Student’s Welfare at the end of the internship tenure.

Respected dignitaries like Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Director of South Campus Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Dean of Academics Prof. K. Ratnabali, Chairperson of the DU Culture Council Anoop Lather, Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Ranjan Kumar Tripathi, former Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Pankaj Arora, Joint Dean Prof. Sangeeta Gadre, and Joint Dean Prof. Hena Singh were present on the event.
Professor Singh motivated the students with his words and asked them not to give up on life. He further said that the internship program will help students stay motivated. He also distributed badges to the students in the orientation.
What are the Last Year’s Statistics of Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme 2024?
Last year, 7,000 students applied for the summer internship and 100 were selected. The interns received a stipend of INR 10,000 per month.
The Vice Chancellor's (VC) internship scheme at Delhi University was introduced in the academic year 2022-2023 to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students with internship opportunities.
In its first cycle, the scheme offered a part-time internship from December 23, 2022, to June 30, 2023, with 8-10 hours per week and a monthly stipend of INR 5,000. This program attracted 3,424 applicants, and those with a Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) of 8.0 or higher were invited for interviews.
Of the 624 candidates interviewed, 113 interns (108 undergraduates and 5 postgraduates) were selected and assigned to 27 different branches/sections within the university, gaining valuable exposure and experience.
The VCIS Part-time (2023) was then launched, running from November 7, 2023, to May 6, 2024, for six months with 8-10 working hours per week and a stipend of INR 5,250 per month. This cycle received 5,326 applications.
