NTA clarified, “These are empty boxes kept outside the hall at NTA and do not have any sensitive material inside them.” It also assured the students that the official website was not hacked.

New Delhi: The two videos of the National Testing Agency (NTA) have recently gone viral claiming that the website of the NTA was hacked until June 18, 2024 and the boxes for the CUET UG were stored out in the open area with broken seals. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) did a “fact check” for these two videos and labelled them as fake. The NTA also issued a clarification on this issue on its social media handle.
What are the Video Claims and Concerns?
Two videos were circulating on the social media platforms showcasing different claims. Those clips have sparked concerns online about the security and integrity of the exam process amid the NEET UG 2024 and UGC-NET paper leak allegations
- One video claimed that the website of the NTA was hacked until June 18 with its data sold on the Darkweb.
- The other video claimed that boxes for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG were being stored out in the open with their seals broken.
Fact-Check and NTA Clarification
The PIB conducted a fact-check for both videos and concluded that those were fake. The NTA also clarified that the CUET UG boxes kept outside the hall on its campus were empty and did not contain any “sensitive material.” The NTA added that those boxes were guarded by sufficient security personnel.
“These are empty boxes kept outside the hall at NTA and do not have any sensitive material inside them. Never did we keep these boxes in the open, as being reported by the media. Also, we have a sufficient number of security personnel deployed at the place where the boxes are kept,” the NTA said in a post on X. The PIB also confirmed that the claim about CUET boxes being stored in the open is “completely fake.”
Regarding the claim about the NTA website being hacked, the PIB said that any information about its data being compromised or sold is “false & baseless. The agency’s website and its online portals are “fully secure.”
Meanwhile, different student groups under the banner ‘India against NTA’ are in their indefinite protest at Jantar Mantar to showcase protest against the alleged irregularities in several centrally held examinations like NEET UG, PG and UGC-NET.
