The CUET UG May 21 shift 2 has been concluded at 6:00 PM. Based on the early students’ reactions, Shift 2 was easy to moderate in overall difficulty.
The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 paper was easy to moderate in overall difficulty. The subject-wise paper analysis is given below:
- Physics: The physics paper was moderate, with most of the numericals from the Alternating current topic. Other questions were asked about wave optics, ray optics, Electric field, dual nature, and EMW, etc.
- Chemistry: The chemistry paper was also moderate in overall difficulty, with most of the questions asked from the organic chemistry section. The questions from the Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry were easy.
- GAT: The overall difficulty of the GAT paper was moderate. The quants section was lengthy, and the reasoning section was tricky and confusing. The GK section included questions such as ISRO’s LVM -1, S.Jaishankar’s visit to Nepal in 2024, and the gold mine during the Harappan period.
CUET UG 2026 exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across 400+ exam centres in India and 15 cities abroad, with over 15,68,866 registered candidates appearing across 35 shifts spread over the exam window of May 11 to May 31, 2026.

- The CUET UG 2026 Admit Card was released on May 5, 2026 at cuet.nta.nic.in — candidates must carry a printed hard copy on exam day; digital copies are not accepted under any circumstances.
- Slot 1 reporting time is 7:00 AM with gates closing at 8:30 AM; Slot 2 reporting time is 1:00 PM with gates closing at 2:30 PM. Late entries will not be permitted.
- A major 2026 change: all 50 questions in every paper are now compulsory — the previous option to attempt 40 out of 50 has been removed. Every candidate must attempt all questions in each 60-minute paper.
- The exam covers 37 subject papers (13 languages + 23 domain subjects + General Aptitude Test), with a marking scheme of +5 for correct and –1 for incorrect answers.

In CUET UG, there are 37 subjects, which include 13 language subjects, 23 domain subjects, and 1 GAT. So there are 37 papers in CUET UG. But a candidate can choose a maximum of five subjects, which means that for candidates, there are a maximum of 5 papers in CUET UG.

The CUET UG May 21 shift 2 GAT paper was moderate to difficult, as per the early students' reaction on Reddit. The paper was quant-heavy, and the questions were also tough in the quant section. The LR section was easy but a little confusing. The GK portion had a lot of history questions and was tough for many students.

- There were 2 RCs, one related to unprocessed food, and the other about some books and a man who had gone to his friends.

The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 Maths paper was easy to moderate and not lengthy, as per students’ reactions.
- The questions were asked from topics such as Relation and Function (3-4 questions), Matrix and determinants (10-12 questions, some direct formula-based and others tricky and confusing), continuity and differentiability (straightforward questions and also PYQ-based), differentiation (lengthy questions asked), application of derivative (normal and easy level questions were asked including 2 questions from increasing and decreasing), integration (5-6 easy questions), application of integrals (moderate totough questions asked such as maxima and minima), probability (3 questiosn including 2 questions from Bayes theorem), vectors (1-2 difficult and tricky questions) and 3D (formula-based questions).
- The average attempts were around 40 in the paper. There were more questions with multiple statement correct options, which were easy to tackle using the elimination method.
The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 History paper was easy. The questions were asked of almost all the chapters. The chapter-wise breakup of questions is given below:
- Chapter 1: Bricks, Beads, and Bones- Around 9-10 questions were asked from this chapter. The questions asked were a matching question related to agriculture evidences, remains of a canal, a timeline question, and a passage.
- Chapter 2: King, farms, and town- There were 2 questions from this chapter. One question was related to the timeline of rulers such as Chandragupta Maurya, etc., and the other was the attack of Alexander.
- Chapter 3: Kinship- There were 3 questions asked, which were related to Stridhan, Chandal, and Nisad.
- Chapter 4: Thinkers- From this chapter, there was a question related to the Sanchi stupa.
- Chapter 5: Travellers- 2 questions, one related to the matching of travellers such as Ibn Battuta, Al-Biruni, and Abdul Rajjak, etc., and the other was related to François Bernier.
- Chapter 6: Bhakti and Sufi- 2 questions related to Hujbiri’s book and Alvar’s.
- Chapter 7: Vijaynagar- 2 questions related to travellers and Amyuktamalayad.
- Chapter 8: Peasants- Questions related to Ain-I-Akbari, and the type of land (chachar and Banjar, etc.)
- Chapter 9: Upniveshvad- A question regarding permanent settlement was aksed from this chapter.
- Chapter 10: Rebels and Raj- A question was asked related to the timeline about Rani Laxmi Bai’s death and Azamgarh’s declaration.
- From Chapter 11 (Mahatma Gandhi), a passage was asked.
The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 Chemistry paper was easy in difficulty level. The questions were asked on topics such as Acidic strength (phenol), Hinsberg reagent, Reiman and Tieman reactions, Basic strength (aqueous solutions), Highest boiling point, Lowest Pka, half-life (formula-based), Lanthanoids, solutions (laws such as Henry's law-matching), coordination (structural isomer matching), molecularity, Methanol and Ethanol (separation), and Hoffman reaction. There were 2 passages, one from Biomolecule (carbohydrate), and the other from Electrochemistry.

The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 Hindi paper was easy in terms of overall difficulty. There were 2 passages in the paper, one is Gadyansh, and the other is Padyansh; both were easy.
- Other questions were from topics such as Tatsam and Tadbav sabd (deshaj sabd), Sandhi (dushkar), Samas (tatpurush and karmdharay), Ras, vilom sabd (swadheen), anek sabdo k lie ek sabd (dwij), sangya and sarvnam (2-3 questions), kriya visheshan, ling (tamatar), and karak (chronology).
- The idiom question was andhe k haath bater lagna, and there were 2 questions from the sahitya section, which were given below:

The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 English paper was easy to moderate in overall difficulty. There were 2 RC questions, one of which was tough, related to colour theory, and the other was story-based and easy.
- Other questions were asked on topics such as sentence rearrangement (6-7 questions), Idioms (3-4 questions- odd one out type), Antonyms and synonyms (10 questions combined, such as Radiant and Deliberate).
- Fill in the blanks type questions related to articles, homophones, tenses, etc. The phrasal verb question was asked about lay, take, push, pull, and play.
The CUET UG May 21 shift 1 GAT paper was moderate in the overall difficulty level. There were around 20 questions asked from the GK section as compared to 13-15 questions from Reasoning and Maths.
- Reasoning: The questions were asked on topics such as Coding-decoding, blood relation, direction, calendar, clock, embedded figure, mirror image, and non-verbal reasoning (2-3 questions).
- Quants: Questions were asked on topics such as Mean, Median, and Mode (2-3 questions), Speed, Time, and Distance, Arithmetic progression, Geometric progression, time and work (efficiency-based), and compound interest.
- GK: The GK section included both static and current affairs questions. Questions were asked about topics such as the author and the book (matching), vice president (chronology), do or die slogan movement, the award and 2023 prize, and river.
