Dr.Shonu Jain is an Assistant Professor at the NRI Institute of Pharmacy, Bhopal. She has pursued a B.Pharmacy from R.K.D.F College of Pharmacy, Bhopal, and an M.Pharmacy from T.I.T College of Pharmacy, Bhopal. Her areas of expertise include Pharmacognosy/ Formulation, Development, and Evaluation of Polyherbal Formulation for Antiulcer and Antispasmodic Activity. She has 12 years of experience in the field of academics. She has been awarded with an excellent teacher award by MPCST during Srijan 2019. She has published 7 research papers and one review article.

Being a faculty of the department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being a faculty of the department, my roles and responsibilities towards students are not only to educate them according to the syllabus but also to motivate them for other activities. Before all this, I have to tell them about discipline in life which is a very important factor for every student.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

A good teacher takes care of the children, understands their problems, and tries to solve them. Regarding fellow faculty, a helping and supportive nature works very well to maintain healthy relations with fellow faculty.

How do you help your student to cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

I always provide different kinds of knowledge regarding the competition that is going on outside the world and also advise them to face the challenges and barriers that come with their participation.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

I always motivate my students to showcase their talent whether it be by dancing, singing, acting, communicating, social activities, etc. Especially in extra lectures, I conduct a debate among them on various educational topics in the English language so that they can acquire English as at the professional level, they will face big issues which can be created due to English barriers.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

The most difficult challenge I am facing to uplift the quality of education is communication regarding language because all students come from different mediums and states so teaching them in a single language is sometimes a big barrier in communication.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

When I joined NRI Group, I only wished to improve myself in every aspect of teaching and other responsibilities that can be given to me by the college because this group has the best academic records and also has top positions in other activities organized in the present colleges of Bhopal.

How does the curriculum of your department/ college ensure the best practices of the industry?

Our department organizes various industrial visits and trainings to ensure the best practice of the industry.

How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to industry standards?

The college can enhance the skills of faculty by giving them opportunities to be a part of different seminars, workshops, and FDPs so that they can level up their industrial standards.

What do you see as the departments/colleges' greatest strengths and how can be enhanced?

I think every department has strict discipline for the students so that students can learn about the utilization of their precious time in their college life. And it can be enhanced by organizing and participating in various activities regarding moral and social life, which is already going on in my department.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I would like to advise my students to always be positive and happy with smiling faces in every situation because worries make you weak physically and mentally. And always have a hunger for knowledge.
