What interests you about working as the Vice President of the college?

My profile as the Vice President of the Institution gives me the privilege as the management personnel with the responsibility to meet new people and engage in new ventures for the inclusive growth of the institution and securing a bright future for our students. This profile is full of responsibility and challenges. On a personal note, I very much enjoy the given responsibilities, and it gives me an immense sense of satisfaction with the decisions taken so far in the best interest of the organization.

How do you envision fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for both students and faculty within the college?

For the organization to flourish, the management has to keep a keen eye on the industry's demand and supply curve in sync with the training programs in the coming times. It is essential to identify that the training offered to the students must match the industry requirements. For staff motivation, it is essential to give them team support rather than burdening them with an individual sense of responsibility. To meet the accountability standards, the management must grant authorizations for the set of activities to a group that fulfills the academic and administrative necessities.

What strategies do you believe are important for enhancing student engagement and ensuring their success throughout their college journey?

The selection of the best opportunities with the upcoming future trends is the key factor that must be a serious consideration for the students. The global market trends are dynamic and suggest that at any given moment, a particular sector is progressive while another is going down. Students in haste apply for or enroll in programs related to growing industry trends, keeping in mind their upscaling career graph. They don't consider an important fact: what or where would it be standing by the time they complete their 3–4 years of training? Students are required to be updated with the industry trends in the chosen curriculum so that by the time their curriculum concludes, they are not left in the middle of nowhere. The correct guidance related to skill, knowledge, and attitude requirements as per industry standards is to be accomplished within their curriculum for enhancing their employability skills.

How do you see technology playing a role in education, and how do you integrate it into our college?

The academic requirements are met with the involvement of trained manpower, the availability of updated training aids, and modern infrastructure to support the types of courses offered. The academic staff must be adequately trained while meeting the appropriate educational qualifications to impart the requisite training standards. Utilization of new-generation computer-based training aids is a must, with the addition of synthetic training devices, to demonstrate and give an in-depth preview of the topics as per the approved syllabus. In sync with the times, we have incorporated into our institution AIRBUS Competence Training, which is the most advanced tool utilized for Aircraft Maintenance Training. It gives an in-depth insight into the aircraft structure, system, and aerodynamics, along with component location and troubleshooting techniques related to aircraft maintenance.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

The greatest strength of our institution is indeed its more than four-decade legacy, in which it produced thousands of aviation technocrats serving the domestic and international aviation industries. It is the one and only Aircraft Maintenance Training institution located in the capital city of India, New Delhi, and holds Director General of Civil Aviation (Govt of India) as well as European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approvals. It has a one-of-a-kind training arrangement with leading aircraft manufacturer AIRBUS to offer Airbus Competence Training, and it has multiple training arrangements with Air India, Indigo, Indamer, Go Air, Star Air, GMR AeroTech, and many other industry operators to allow our students to get themselves trained and serve the industry.

What advice would you like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

The new generation is very typical about course selection after their 10+2 and is most inclined toward the types that can guarantee them employment with the highest package, low training costs, and the shortest course duration possible. In the real world, no such curriculum exists that can ensure all the above-stated requirements under one roof.

My advice to the youth is to learn to be Patient. It is the experience and knowledge that are rewarded in due course. Hence, Patience and Perseverance are the keys to writing a success story.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

When it comes to aviation, people are more considerate of Pilots or air stewards, but very few of them know about the people involved in keeping the aircraft in flying condition. It is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who are the backbone of the aviation industry and are responsible for maintaining the complexities of the aircraft structure, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems, along with electrical and instrumentation equipment, to keep it airborne and ensure air safety.

The recent aircraft orders by Air India (470 firm orders and 300 on standby) and Indigo Airlines (500 firms with 300 pending orders) give the domestic aviation industry mammoth leverage over any other automation, manufacturing, or processing sector. The vision and opportunities associated with the sheer scale of expansion are evident with these aircraft orders, and our organization is committed to supporting the anticipated aviation market demands.

How does the college prioritize student support services, such as career counselling, mental health resources, and extracurricular activities?

The college days are crucial because it is the career-defining stage for any candidate. It is necessary to keep them motivated by keeping them updated with industry advancements with the incorporation of new technology, allowing them to meet industry stalwarts for Q & A sessions to clarify their doubts, and giving them an outlook of the working environment by managing industrial visits. Our institution has accorded various agreements with India's major airlines as our training partners. We give opportunities to the students to participate in practical training tasks on the live and operational aircraft at their maintenance facilities to acquire skills and knowledge through which they can enhance their employability skills.

How does the curriculum of your College/University ensure the best practice of industry?

The curriculum followed by our approved organization is issued by the DGCA (Govt of India) and EASA (European Union), both of which are National Aviation Authorities. We are audited two times a year by these authorities to demonstrate training, examination, and quality standards. It is worth mentioning that, unlike other Engineering or technical courses, the Aviation sector undergoes stringent audit functions. The maintenance of standards as per the industry requirements must be met, which are stipulated by the National Aviation Authorities in the Civil Aviation Requirements regulations.
