How do you strategize the key programs and plans for the administration of your college?

We provide three types of academic pathways at ATDC: one-year diploma programs (AVI programs), a three-year B.Voc degree program in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development, and NSDC-approved certificate programs. Each academic year, we maintain consistency in offering these pathways.

What are your prime duties and responsibilities for the college and the students of ATDC?

Our prime duty is to ensure that the curriculum remains updated and relevant to industry requirements. An academic committee reviews the curriculum annually, incorporating necessary updates such as trends like AI's impact on various sectors. Our priority is to keep students well-prepared and focused on industry demands, reflected in our infrastructure, curriculum, and facilities.

What are some of the greatest strengths of ATDC according to you?

ATDC's greatest strength lies in its nationwide presence. With 84 operational centers (previously close to 250 before COVID-19), we strategically position ourselves near industrial hubs, ensuring accessibility to the apparel industry across India. This widespread coverage underscores our commitment to serving the industry.

How does your institution help students cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

ATDC ensures affordability without compromising on quality education. While other institutes charge exorbitant fees, we keep our fees affordable, catering to students from lower to upper-middle-class backgrounds. This affordability, combined with high-quality education, helps maintain students' aspirations, making ATDC an attractive choice.

Any valuable advice you would like to give to current youth and aspiring students?

Fashion is one of the most significant industries for youth employment after agriculture. Its vast potential makes it a charismatic career choice. Apparel sector training opens doors to promising opportunities, given the industry's continuous growth and demand for skilled professionals.

What, according to you, are the current challenges in your industry?

The primary challenge is the shortage of trained manpower. Studies suggest that the apparel industry requires approximately 45 million skilled professionals in the next three years. Despite numerous institutes offering degrees and diplomas, skilled workers are scarce. ATDC addresses this gap by providing manpower tailored to industry needs.

How do you ensure that the courses offered at your college are up-to-date and align with industry trends?

Our academic committee meets monthly to review proposals for new curricula or revisions. We prioritize aligning our courses with industry demands, ensuring that our programs remain relevant and up-to-date.

Any new changes in the curriculum of your college that you want to share?

In line with India's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ATDC has introduced a sustainability module for the apparel sector. This module will be integrated into our diploma and degree programs starting in July, aiming to foster a more sustainable future for the apparel industry.
