Dr. Bhargab Jyoti Sahariah is the Principal of Pharmacy at Nemcare Group Of Institution. He obtained a Master of Pharmacy from the University of North Bengal, Siliguri, West Bengal in the year 2009 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam in the year 2017. He has been awarded the “Aarohan Shikshak Samannay Award in the year 2021” by the Arohan Artists’ Guild. He has published a book named Formulation, Development, And In-vivo Studies of Anti-HIV Vaginal Film. He has several patents issued as well from the Government of India & Republic of South Africa. He is an active participant in various seminars and conferences.

To oversee academic programs, faculty, and student affairs, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering an environment conducive to quality education and research.


What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

All students must try to continuously develop their skills, stay curious, and embrace lifelong learning to adapt to the evolving demands of the job market and ensure a prosperous career.


What do you see as the department’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

Our institute believes in fostering a collaborative environment among its departments, promoting interdisciplinary research, and ensuring seamless integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing students comprehensively for the pharmaceutical field.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your Institution?

Almost all administrations in pharmacy colleges in India often face challenges such as managing regulatory compliance, staying updated with evolving curriculum standards, ensuring quality faculty, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, securing industry collaborations, and facilitating research funding, all while balancing affordability and accessibility for students. Additionally, addressing the dynamic healthcare landscape and technological advancements poses continuous challenges in preparing students for the industry.


Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

Yes. NIPS celebrates College Foundation Day every year on 7th November. Alongside we have a yearly intercollege cricket tournament which goes by the name of NEMCARE Group Premier League. Moreover, regular extracurricular events and sports are organized year-long to promote the all-round development of students.


How do you help your student cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

Supporting students to cope with intense competition involves fostering a growth mindset, encouraging resilience, providing career counseling, facilitating internships and practical experiences, promoting extracurricular activities for holistic development, and offering mentorship programs, enabling them to build confidence, skills, and a robust professional network to navigate the competitive outside world effectively.


What are your views on the placements and higher education about the students from your institution or How does the institution prepare students for Higher Education?

NIPS promotes placements by offering career counseling, resume-building workshops, interview preparation sessions, and industry-relevant skills training. NIPS also facilitates guest lectures from industry professionals, internships, and research opportunities, enabling students to gain practical experience and exposure. Additionally, strong academic programs, emphasis on research, and collaboration with industries increase the likelihood of students from our institute to secure placements and pursue higher education in reputed institutions.


How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it get updated to make it befitting for the students?

NIPS rigorously follows the curriculum of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and therefore updates the curriculum as per the directions issued by the national body.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students that help them gain the necessary skills?

Best practices include Interactive learning, guest lectures and workshops, experimental learning, skill-specific training, career counseling, soft skill training and a student feedback system.
