Being in the education sector for so many years, what is the key factor that keeps you connected with the education sector?
I find teaching the noblest of professions in which young inquisitive minds with vibrancy and novel ideas are with me. Apart from the experience gained so far, interaction with every batch of teenagers, and budding adults kindle my learning spirit with more precision and perfection. There has never been a day of monotony as our clients are ever youth, unrelenting, and full of energy and enthusiasm. This rejuvenating experience compels me to be connected with the education sector.
Having held key positions at various stages of your career, what is your philosophy of leadership and what is your leadership style?
I have held various key positions and have worked with a variety of people. My philosophy of leadership is listening, absorbing, learning, and speaking through constructive work. Today, people-including me, are not just ready to accept leadership in terms of the number of years of experience, but by counting on one’s depth of knowledge, quality of thought and expression, consistent time management, and effective decision-making. A good leader is a predictor of events, an authority instilling confidence, a guiding force, a solution-finder, and above all a person with the wisdom of hindsight, considerateness, and assertiveness. My leadership style is that I make my actions speak a lot louder than my words, and I work for a hassle-free mechanism to provide simple and transformative solutions.
What kind of extra-curricular activities or programs does your Institution provide for the overall development of a student?
Unimpeachably and predominantly we strongly believe in the adage “A sound mind in a sound body”. So, Sports activity is the prior extra-curricular activity that is given the highest priority to keep students strong, focussed, team-spirited, and most importantly well-balanced. Regardless of success and failures an unrelenting quest for exploration and innovation is nurtured through several club activities, where students’ presentation, demonstration, and oration skills are encouraged. Equal in importance are the cultural activities where students find scope for exhibiting their interest in the field of their choice at their best. These two give students a sense of holistic satisfaction that makes them reach great heights in personal, academic, and social contexts.
Where do you see your Institution to be in the next 5 or 10 years? And what measures are planning to reach that stage?
With its brand name for uncompromising and unparalleled quality on the upswing on par with the latest technologies of global standards, SRM will soon be undeniably No.1 in Madurai, Sivagangai, and Virudhunagar, districts and be the most preferred higher education destination for the students of south Tamilnadu. Even before our students arrive we signed an MoU with L& T and we have more to do with many other highly reputed companies relevant to our students’ career prospects. This paves the way for industry exposures and expectations to SRMites. Besides, in the next five years, we would have gained accreditations from NAAC and NBA, and eventually become an autonomous institution with which we enter into global standards like CDIO to maximize the potential of our students to serve humanity better.
How do you strategize the curriculum and how often does it get updated to meet the industry standards?
Our MoU with leading industries, and top universities across the globe update us with the latest advancements and the requirements to handle and enhance them. We, at SRM, keep our faculty informed of the same who consecutively design value-added courses accordingly, and train our students to fulfill those expectations, and that’s how we strategize our curriculum and meet the industry standards.

With India already having too many educational institutions, what is the uniqueness that your institution is bringing up to the student community?
Strength is determined qualitatively not quantitatively. So the number of institution existed already and those mushrooming have no impact on us. Quality of faculty and the infrastructure with upgradation of latest information are the prior factors that fetch outstanding merit. SRM group of institutions never compromise in these three quintessential factors and that makes us unique. Equally important is our planning and scheduling that caters to the intellectual thirst and emotional satisfaction of our students. The later is achieved with responsible liberty which our students treasure a lot.
Have you introduced any new programs in your college? If yes, please give us a brief about the same. If no, are you planning to introduce any?
We offer all the core programs like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology. Now we have approval for programs like Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as more of them are gaining momentum in the digitalised world. For a world of precision and perfection the support of artificial intelligence becomes the indispensable need of the hour. Hence, we offer these new programs. However, it is our policy to groom SRMites holistically not specifically. Thus, in the course of their educational journey with us, every student is trained to handle projects in different fields so that the utility of their knowledge and expertise will be pervasive beyond the core branches.
What seed you would like to plant in the minds of the viewers of this interview?
For some talent is inborn. For some, it is inculcated and habituated. But both these categories of students need proper practice and guidance. Under the tutelage of our committed team of faculty, we bring out the best in our students. In fact, those who missed hot housing at their schools will never miss it at SRM. We train and tune them to realize their full potential and we strongly inculcate in them that ‘rest is just a preparation for work and work is constructive productivity and never-ending progression towards advancement both uniquely and diversified.
