Dr. Ramaiah Itumalla has been working as the Dean of School of Management at Apollo University, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. He is a distinguished Teacher and Researcher by choice and has qualified UGC-NET in Management. Apart from this, as part of his education, he has done Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, MA, MPhil, MBA in HealthCare and Hospital Management and PhD under the guidance of two eminent professors Prof. G.V.R.K Acharyulu and Prof. B. Raja Shekhar from School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. Also, he has 10+ years amazing experience in the teaching sector and is a renowned academician who has worked both in India and abroad.

And before joining the TAU, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management at College of Public Health and Health Informatics - University of Hail which comes under the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia. Other than this, Dr. Ramaiah has worked at Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration as an Assistant Professor and at the School of Management Studies - University of Hyderabad as a first UGC Post- Doctoral Fellow.

What inspired and excited you to join Apollo University of Chittoor as a Dean?

The Apollo University vision and mission of imparting finest quality and employment oriented education to today’s ambitious youths followed by its amazing, inclusive and collaborative work culture and legacy in the dynamic and challenging world of education inspired me to join it as a Dean of School of Management.

How do you balance the needs of faculty, students and administrators as a Dean of a School of Management?

I strongly believe in the fact that balancing the requirements of faculty members, students and administrators of an institution is very crucial for its smooth functioning. Hence to achieve the same, I have adopted effective communication techniques to reduce confusion and any kind of misunderstanding. Apart from this, I regularly collaborate with my team and have given complete freedom to our teachers for maintaining a harmonious educational environment and continuously improving our policies and pedagogies.

Which features make your Apollo University different and unique from other Management University?

While all other management schools share a common goal of providing quality education to future managers. Our School of Management has long proven records in the education sector and we do have an amazing team of highly educated, experienced and trained faculty members. Apart from this, we offer specialized programs and have also maintained strong and long-lasting relations with leading industries for skill development of students and their smooth transition in the corporate world by providing them national and global exposure. Last but not the least, we invest a lot on research and innovation and have also developed top-notch facilities on campus for the same.

How do you stay updated about the current developments of the Management field and incorporate the same into the programs offered by your school?

I along with my fellow faculties have adopted a systematic approach to keep ourselves updated about the latest trends and development of the Management field. First and foremost, we regularly review and update the curriculum of our institution in collaboration with industry experts and leaders by taking their valuable suggestions and feedback. In addition to this, we learn about new technologies and management techniques from time to time by engaging ourselves in experiential learning and also by collaborating with our key partners and Educator Networks.

Our School of Management of the Apollo University has maintained strong relationships with various renowned companies. Apart from this, we get to enhance our knowledge and overall subject expertise by collaborating with top-notch professionals.

How do you promote the culture of experiential learning within the School of Management?

We strongly believe that promoting the ambiance of experiential learning within the business school is essential for preparing students for real-world challenges. Therefore, we at the School of Management regularly organize field trips to educate students about ground level working and also invite guest lectures for an interactive session with the students. 

Other than this, we offer internship opportunities to them in renowned companies, use case studies to help them relate theoretical concepts with its practical applications and also conduct extracurricular activities to enhance students skills and give them a platform to showcase their unique talents.
