Ms. Sonal Hazrati is the Centre Head of the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design. She holds a PGDM in Human Resource Management, an advanced diploma in fashion designing along with a bachelor’s degree in fashion/apparel design. Besides her present work, Ms. Sonal has worked at Khazani Women’s Vocational Institute, Wikka Potions for Aromatherapy and Knotted Lane.

What aspects of the fashion industry do you find most exciting or challenging?

I find the exploration of innovative materials and techniques, the reflection of societal shifts in fashion, and the unique expressions of individuality through personal style to be particularly exciting aspects of the ever-changing world of fashion. The challenges lie in navigating the intersection of fashion with culture, sustainability, and technology, which brings intriguing dimensions to the industry.

What extracurricular activities or initiatives are in place to enhance their overall college experience?

INIFD offers a range of extracurricular activities, including fashion shows, internships, workshops, industry networking events, fashion competitions, and fashion journalism. There are also collaborative projects, volunteer opportunities, and language and cultural studies. Students get to work in leadership roles in student organizations and take part in activities exploring the intersection of fashion and technology. As the Centre Head, what initiatives or programs have you personally championed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry experience for the students at INIFD?

To bridge the gap between academic learning and industry experience, I have championed initiatives such as regular curriculum updates, practical application opportunities through internships and projects, technology integration, industry-connected faculty, soft skills development, networking events, feedback mechanisms, simulation and case studies, entrepreneurial exposure, and fostering a continuous learning culture. These efforts aim to ensure students graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a successful fashion career.


What inspired you to join the field of fashion education, and how do you believe your industry experience contributes to your role as the Centre Head?

My inspiration to join fashion education stems from a passion for nurturing creativity and preparing students for success in the dynamic fashion industry. My industry experience contributes to my role by providing real-world insights, industry connections, and an understanding of current trends. It enables me to guide academic programs, foster industry relationships, and create an environment that prepares students for the challenges and opportunities in the field of fashion.
