S.T. Kaushik has been working as the Head of Animation and Graphics Designing Department at Saveetha College of Architecture and Design, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has an incredible experience in 3D Character Animation with a demonstrated history of working in animation projects through mixed mediums including television, augmented reality, virtual reality, mobile applications and other media industries and he has also mentored students about 2D and 3D Animation Graphics. He is skilled in areas like Computer Animation, Rigging, Motion Graphics, 2D Drawing and Oil Painting. As part of his academics, he has done Graduation in Animation and VFX and Post Graduation in Electronic Media (Media, Journalism and Mass Communication Studies) from Anna University of Chennai. Before joining Saveetha College of Architecture and Design, he has worked as an Intern in Prana Animation Studio and as a 2D/3D Animation Artist in RIA Digital Solution, Mayapuri Graphic Workstation, Vinformax, Augray Chennai and iNurture Education. Apart from this, he has worked on various industrial projects like Motu Patlu and Tashi, Saint-Gobain, Thanthi TV and TADA Mobile Application.

Which latest programs are you offering in your college and how are they unique and worth pursuing for students?

We are offering 3 years B.Sc. course in the discipline of Animation and Graphics to help students gain industry level skills and knowledge of Visual Effects, Visual Design, VFX Compositing and 2D and 3D Production. And to make them industry ready, they are involved in multiple, amazing and real-time consultancy projects. Lastly, students will be learning new skills and developing their personality and knowledge under the supervision and guidance of our highly skilled and extensively experienced faculty members in well-equipped labs. So, I firmly believe these factors together make our courses distinctive and worth pursuing for students.

We offer industry oriented curriculum and education to our students and encourage them to do collaborative interdisciplinary projects to help them secure a good job in top notch companies. And we also offer several expert talks and industry connect sessions to students throughout their course duration. In addition to this, various value added certification programs in different domains of computer application are offered by us and industrial visits are conducted too as and when required to enhance students knowledge and practical skills.

How do the courses of your college ensure the future preparedness of students?

How did you train your faculty members to help them deliver newly introduced courses to students?

Although all the faculty members of our college are highly educated and experienced, to keep pace with the changing technologies and outside world, they also need to upgrade their skills. Therefore, Faculty Development Programs are regularly conducted by us to enhance their subjects knowledge and keep them updated about the current industrial trends. Apart from this, our faculties regularly take and work on consultancy projects to enhance their expertise and experience in relevant fields. 

How do you prepare your students for the placement and competitive industrial world?

For the purpose of preparing our students for the corporate sector and offering them countless learning opportunities, we have signed MOUs with eminent industries and students are also provided with scope to work on real time industrial projects under these tie-ups. And to make them placement ready, rigorous training programs and mock interviews are organized by us on a regular basis. Lastly, we encourage and educate them to ideate and start their own firms through our Entrepreneurial Training programs and support infrastructure.

On what kinds of projects your students are currently working on under their respective courses?

"Our students are developing many short films and animated movies currently"

Our students are working on diverse range of projects and some of them are composing Animated Short Films, others are creating Character Sketches and Designs, 2D and 3D Animated Short Films, Background Score, while many of them are developing 2D and 3D Character Prop and Character Models, 2D and 3D Rigging and Animations, Storyboards, Print Publication Designs and Digital Layout Designs.
