Dr. Meena Shekhawat is the faculty of History at Tagore PG Girls College, Jaipur. She has done her MA (History) and M.Phil from Banasthali Vidyapith and did her PhD from MDS University. She has chosen Forest and Wildlife Conservation Policies & Traditions in Rajasthan & its Relevance (18th Century – 1950 AD) topic for research during her PhD. She loves to teach students, read books, plant, craft and design.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students as a faculty member?

I strive to provide students with the knowledge and skills they require to become successful individuals. My role is not just limited to teaching but also involves motivating them, guiding them and providing support when they need it. I am also responsible for creating an environment where students can express their ideas freely and learn from each other. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that all students reach their fullest potential while they are in my care.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty members?

I believe that establishing healthy relations with students and fellow faculty members is an important part of any educational institution. It is essential to create an environment of trust and respect in order to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and secure. It is also important to be open and honest when communicating with students and colleagues, as this will help foster a sense of understanding between all parties involved. Additionally, it is important to understand the behavioral state of each individual in order to better understand their needs and concerns. 

What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

My philosophy of leadership is to lead from the front and to motivate my team to work together as a single unit. I believe in creating an environment where everyone can contribute their ideas and be heard, while also providing guidance and direction when needed. My leadership style is focused on collaboration, communication, and trust. I strive to create an atmosphere of openness, respect and mutual understanding so that everyone feels comfortable contributing their ideas.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it get updated to make it befitting for the students?

To update the curriculum, strategizing and planning on how to make the curriculum befitting for the students is very important. Although my role in updating the curriculum is limited, I can still contribute by providing feedback on what should be included or removed from it. I believe that a good strategy for updating the curriculum is to review it at least once a year. This will help identify any outdated material or topics that need to be updated or replaced with more relevant content. Additionally, also suggest involving students in this process by asking them for their feedback and suggestions on what they would like to see in the curriculum.

How do you build a positive atmosphere in your college?

It involves creating an environment where students feel energized and enthusiastic about learning and where mutual understanding and parental discipline are encouraged. A positive school culture or climate can be achieved by fostering a sense of belonging, respect, and collaboration among students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community. This can be done through activities such as student-led clubs and organizations, parent-teacher meetings, student-teacher mentoring programs, community service projects, and more. By creating an atmosphere of acceptance and appreciation for all members of the school community, we can ensure that our students have the best possible learning experience.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

From dance and music classes to sports and games, there are plenty of activities that can help students enhance their skills and prepare them for the future. Hiking is also a great way for students to get out in nature and experience the outdoors while developing important physical and mental skills. We have all these activities that can help students become well-rounded individuals who are ready to take on whatever life throws at them.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from the curriculum to train/teach the students?

I believe that using models to explain concepts helps students visualize what they are learning and makes it easier for them to understand complex topics. Additionally, teaching through projectors, and audio-video aids, and involving the students in the teaching process can also be very effective in helping them learn better.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

As students, we are all striving to build a successful career and make our dreams come true. To achieve this, we need to work hard and have the right attitude towards our studies and life in general. We must also remember that our parents have given us the best advice for us to succeed in life, so it is important to obey them and follow their guidance. Moreover, having sincerity and politeness towards people can help us build better relationships with colleagues, employers, and other people in general.
