What makes PGDM at Calcutta Business School truly distinctive from other programs? Can you elaborate on the vision of the school's PGDM program?
Calcutta Business School was founded in 2008 with the mission to provide exceptional management education to talented individuals. Over the years, it has undergone significant evolution and currently stands as one of the leading business schools in Eastern India. The primary focus of CBS is to prepare students for placements, as they come here to establish solid careers. We don't just teach management theory; we ensure students practice it, so they feel confident and capable when they enter the corporate world. Continuous feedback from industry leaders helps prepare them for their professional journey. Being AICTE-approved, we can pick and choose from a wide range of subjects tailored to our students' needs and interests.
How does your curriculum design balance core business disciplines with specializations and electives?
Calcutta Business School's learning model is designed to develop a broad range of qualities instead of just specific skills. Our main goals are to enhance talent in analytical reasoning, decision-making, leadership, diverse actions, openness to different viewpoints, clear and effective communication, and fostering creativity and innovation. We focus on building strong careers so that our students can be successful in their professional lives. CBS has a collaboration with IBM and Georgia State University, USA. These associations will provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the dynamic world of international business and open new doors of opportunity for the development of groundbreaking ventures on a global scale.
Does your program offer any unique learning experiences, such as capstone projects, consulting opportunities, or international immersion programs?
Calcutta Business School offers a hands-on Rural Immersion Program that impacts real communities. This flagship program helps students understand rural life and apply their knowledge, technology, and management skills to solve problems for the “bottom of the pyramid” markets. CBS also provides summer (SIP) and autumn (AIP) internships. These dual internships give students practical experience, helping them learn to use their skills in real workplaces and understand corporate culture and business practices in their chosen fields.

Can you elaborate on the teaching methodologies used in your PGDM program? How does this approach foster critical thinking and practical application?
CBS uses an experiential learning approach that helps students learn by doing. Students participate in practical activities like presentations, group work, and simulation games to develop life skills. Professionals from various industries visit classrooms to share their expertise and answer questions. Some of our teaching pedagogy includes the following like-
- Our entrepreneurial competition, "Upreneur," students create their businesses using pretend money and present their ideas to a panel of experienced judges. The judges provide feedback on why the business ideas might succeed or fail.
- The B-School organized "Battle of Marketing," where the students were required to work in teams to design their FMCG pretend product and compete with other student groups. They give it a name, logo, and tagline, outline their value proposition and design strategy to develop an appropriate marketing mix and present the entire work in front of marketing experts from across the industries.
Does the PGDM program at Calcutta Business School involve industry leaders in curriculum development or guest lectures? How does this collaboration benefit students?
The Board of Trustees of our foundation comprises well-known industrialists interested in the spread of education. The Academic Advisory Board (AAB) and Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) are vital to the B-School's scholarly community. The AAB are well-respected academicians and seasoned professionals from IITs, IIMs, NITs, CU, JU and other universities of national and international repute. Their wise counsel and mentoring keep the B-school's curriculum framework and overall academic delivery current, relevant, and industry-aligned. IIPC comprises business leaders from companies like Pepsico, IBM, Ericsson, Exide Industries, ABP Group, Accenture, Skipper Limited, KPMG, and Tata Steel. The committee bridges and connects the wisdom of industry veterans with young and buzzing future managers.
