Dr. B. V. Prashanth is the Principal of TTL College of Business Management. He is an academician with a strong enthusiasm for English literature and language. He has a doctorate in English and a Master's degree in Management Science. With 25 years of teaching, administration, training, and placement experience in postgraduate and undergraduate colleges, he has also been contributing to research competence. Dr. Prashanth’s dedication to delving into the complexities of literature, language, and culture has inspired him innumerable graduates and other academics, in addition to making a positive impact on the academic and research communities. Being the Principal of this institution what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style? 

The principal's leadership philosophy focuses on a student-centred approach, promoting inclusivity and diversity, continuous improvement, transparency, ethical leadership, transformational leadership, collaborative leadership, servant leadership, strategic leadership, adaptive leadership, and leading by example. The primary focus is on the well-being, growth, and success of graduates, fostering a diverse learning environment. How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the graduates and fellow faculty? 

To foster healthy relationships with graduates and faculty, I follow several strategies. I try to pay close attention to their concerns and ideas and show empathy and understanding. I encourage everyone to treat everyone with respect and professionalism, even if you disagree. It is important to be fair and consistent in your interactions and decision-making along with offering encouragement and positive feedback, recognizing and celebrating achievements and milestones. Moreover, we encourage collaboration among graduates and colleagues, creating an inclusive environment. 


What are your views on the placements and higher education of the graduates from your department or how does your department prepare graduates for Higher education? 

A well-designed curriculum, research opportunities, internships, and experiential learning are crucial for preparing graduates for higher education. Departments align courses with relevant prerequisites and expectations. Graduates can develop research skills and build relationships with professors. Internships and experiential learning provide practical skills and help explore interests. While career counselling and advising help graduates select the right program based on their goals, networking opportunities, professional development workshops, personal statement and application assistance, scholarship and financial aid information, and tracking and reporting outcomes help graduates make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. 


Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the graduates or expose them to the real-world challenges? 

Our institution offers various programs for graduates, including internships, service-learning projects, guest speakers, entrepreneurship centers, research opportunities, and career services. These programs provide real-world work experience, community service, and academic credit. Additionally, we host guest speakers and workshops, provide resources, mentoring, and funding for entrepreneurship, and offer research opportunities. What valuable advice would you like to the graduates for them to have a prosperous career ahead? 

Choose a career path that interests you and set clear goals to stay motivated and achieve success. Continuously learn and network to stay updated with new skills and knowledge. Develop a strong work ethic, adaptability, and communication skills to succeed in any profession. Plan for the long term by focusing on short-term goals and being patient with setbacks. Remember that your career is a significant part of your life, so enjoy the journey and celebrate your achievements.


How did you train yourself to deliver this program to the graduates? 

The combination of education, training, and professional development is a continuous process. One must be adaptable and keep continuously learn. Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends, developments, and research in the field of commerce is essential. This involves reading academic journals, attending conferences, and staying connected with peers.


What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years? 

The top priorities for a college or university over the next ten years can vary depending on its specific circumstances, mission, and goals. However, there are several overarching priorities that educational institutions should consider as they plan for the future. Ensuring that graduates have access to high-quality education, support services, and resources to help them succeed academically and personally should always be a top priority. Promoting diversity and creating an inclusive campus environment should be a fundamental goal. Colleges should work to reduce disparities in access and outcomes among different student groups. Embracing technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences, as well as improving the digital infrastructure, is crucial in the digital age. Fostering a culture of research and innovation can lead to advancements in various fields and contribute to the institution's reputation.
