Arun Kumar Shukla is the Director of the IISE Lucknow, Lucknow. He did MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Lucknow. He has a work experience of 23 years in Teaching and Research and five years of experience in Corporate Exposure. He is an expert member in the Interview Panel of UCO Bank Probationary Officers and Editorial Board of Business Review Magazine. He has authored several papers in various International and National Journals.

What are the factors that connect you with the education sector?

“Create and nurture students to gain knowledge”

The education sector is the primary sector of any economy. My interest is to create and nurture students to gain knowledge and contribute to the development of the country. To achieve sustainable economic development attain through substantial investment in human capital. Education enriches people’s understanding of the world. It improves the quality of their lives and leads to social benefits for individuals.

What is your leadership philosophy?

“Work together for the achievement of goals”

My philosophy of leadership is participating in nature. I believe in togetherness and involve colleagues and subordinates in any decision-making. It helps to feel motivated and work together towards the achievement of common goals. Teams can produce positive results by involving members in decision-making.

How does the curriculum of IISE Lucknow ensure industrial practice?

“Updated and moderate curriculum available for students”

The curriculum offered at IISE was designed by affiliating universities. The syllabus for the undergraduate course is designed by the University of Lucknow. On the other hand, a curriculum of postgraduate courses is designed by AKTU. There is an updated and moderate curriculum designed by these universities. It helps the developments taking place across the country and industries. This is industry-oriented.

How does IISE Lucknow prepare students for Placements?

“Industry exposure and training providers to students”

The Institute's top priority is to provide good academics. Hence, students get placements and become a citizen of the country. We welcome students from all races and backgrounds. The students come from urban and rural backgrounds. We provide an atmosphere where students have a uniform platform. But, they feel alike with no extraordinary privileges given to any students. Education is for all. 

What difficulties did the department face during this pandemic?

“We came up with solutions for students and faculty”

Our Institute is located in Lucknow. The lack of industries in Lucknow is a great challenge for institutes. Hence, students get less exposure to industries. The covid times have been challenging for everyone. We handled it pretty well by discussing all the issues raised by the students, faculty and came up with solutions. Our faculty team is comfortable in both online and offline mode. It helps to provide better learning for the students. This helps to connect everyone to technology, online education, and the digital market which is the future of the education sector.

What is the greatest strength of IISE Lucknow?

“Experienced faculty members and learning-based education”

Our campus is 30 years old. It is the oldest Institute in Lucknow. The strength of the college is the experienced faculty members. Most of the faculty members are NET qualified and possess Ph.D. degrees. Our main focus is learning-based education instead of bookish knowledge.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“Providing good training and placements for pupils”

I carry a lot of responsibilities towards students and the Institute. My primary job is to provide a congenial academic environment to the students. Hence, they can do good studies and gain better knowledge. Providing good training and placements is another responsibility. Good infrastructure like computer lab, language lab, enriched library, and sports facilities are necessary.

Any advice do you give for aspiring students?

“Update with the latest technologies and expand your knowledge”

The education system has changed in the last few years. Students get updated with the latest information on the technology and current knowledge for the practical aspects of the education.
