What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?
Our program is computer science and engineering. Nowadays, everyone is looking at completing a CSE degree in view of the career opportunities it can offer. CSE students are eligible for numerous jobs in different industries compared to other branches. We have over 60 students in our CSE course who will soon contribute positively to the industry. Under CSE itself at our college, we have six sections that are being taught the latest industry trends and knowledge.
What are the best practices in the program you are doing?
We noticed that our regular course curriculum wasn’t effective. We decided to create our own curriculum where we focused more on programming concepts. Instead of simply teaching and asking the students to practice, we combined teaching and practice together. We have 30 students per section who sit together in the laboratory for the classes. They can start practicing immediately during the class. We believe this works best for our students and we will continue to use this method in the future as well.
How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
We do not focus only on teaching the curriculum. We also try to bring a practical aspect to the classes through guest lectures and training sessions by industry professionals and experts. We also have special classes to improve our student's skills as well. We have professors from different universities who visit our campus and share their knowledge and experience through lectures with our students. All of these experiences are necessary for the students to gain experience and be ready for the industry. We also invest in the latest software and systems for our students towards this end.

How do you tend to build industry connect through the programs?
We have MOUs with several companies to share knowledge and to hire our students as interns and full-time employees. Employees from these companies visit our campus and deliver talks and lectures on the latest topics. We also have an MOU with TCS, especially for the CSE students. Another collaboration we have is with IBM.
What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?
In terms of challenges, we have a lot of opportunities in CSE that encourage students from other branches to switch to CSE. We need to guide these students to success in this field. However, we also expect quality work from them. We require students to participate in projects and show responsibility for their studies. Our placement teams and the associated staff members address these challenges for us. As a result, we were able to achieve 100% placements during the last placement season.
What are the types of projects that students are working on this program?
Our students work on several different types of projects. Our students have to mandatorily complete internships with companies like IBM, Real Value Labs, and Cisco, among others. Often, these internships are transformed into full-time roles. The work the interns complete during their internships is done in the form of their final term projects, where they work with specific types of technologies.
Our department also collaborates with students on specific project topics. We let them choose topics from relevant journals like IEEE and indexed journals, ensuring the relevance of the topics. Some of these projects completed by our students have also been published in different journals. This is a good practice we follow at our college. In the past, we have had students who have presented their project work at different seminars and conferences and they have earned badges for it as well.
