Dr. B. Narsimha has been working as the Professor and Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department at Holy Mary Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad, Telangana.

He has a stellar 16+ years of work experience in the teaching field and he has done B.Tech in CSE from Telangana based Jayaprakash Narayana College of Engineering in 2004, M.Tech too in CSE from Sridatta Institute of Engineering and Science in 2010 and PhD in the Stream of Computer Science and Engineering from Shri Venkateshwara University in 2019. Dr. B. Narsimha is also the proud member of professional bodies like IARA,CSI, IAENG and ISTE.

What are the key reasons which inspired you to join the dynamic world of education?

Teaching young and ambitious minds and research have been my passion since the start. That's why I have been associated with the education sector right after finishing my PhD. Also, as an educator, I am not only responsible for teaching students but also for upgrading my own skills by learning current trends, technologies and of course teaching methodologies, keeping in mind the constantly evolving nature of the educational world.

Apart from this I always had the desire to make a difference and bring a positive change in society, and education without doubt works as a Catalyst here. And believe me, the happiness, motivation and satisfaction which comes after getting the opportunity to shape the minds of future generations and contribute to their personal and professional growth is worth it. Hence I strongly believe these are some of the driving forces which have led me to the world of education for so long and at HITS also.

How has your engagement in events like workshops and seminars contributed to your professional growth?

According to me, professional growth is the timely and right application of past and present experiences and skills to positively impact our current position and career pursuits. Because, by expanding our skills and thinking ahead, we are preparing ourselves to handle more responsibilities. Also, investing in your professional growth shows ambition, self-awareness, humility and tenacity and gaining new skill sets and qualifications by attending professional training courses.

Therefore I would say my past exposure, be it while attending workshops and seminars or organizing the ones, has helped me a lot to reach where I am today.

How do you keep yourself and your faculty updated with the current trends and developments of the CSE field?

For the purpose of keeping ourselves up-to-date with the happenings of the CSE world, we regularly attend various kinds of seminars and faculty development programs. Apart from this, we also participate in industrial conferences, attend technical workshops and other kinds of events from time to time. And this is because we can upskill our own knowledge and deliver best to students for their bright future.

In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges and benefits of the CSE field and what advice would you give to aspirants as a HOD?

In today's world, the field of Computer Science and Engineering is a booming sector not only in India but in most parts of the world. And emerging technologies are bringing a lot of changes and shifts in the operating model of various industries and organizations across the globe. And the sector is not only famous for its technologies but also for diverse categories of jobs, but yes like every other domain, this field also has several challenges.

And being the Head of CSE Department, I would suggest to students that if you are planning to become a good Programmer in the coming future, keep sharpening your coding as well as programming skills daily. Because if you practice daily, then day by day your coding skills will improve and it helps to increase your analytical and logical skills.

What kinds of collaboration has your college done with industries to provide practical exposure and opportunities to students?

Our college has maintained very strong relationships with leading industries and organizations and as a result, we offer our students some amazing internships to bridge the gaps between what skills they have and what corporate demands. And during these apprenticeships, students are sent to work in a company after completing 3rd year to gain practical knowledge and experience in a real time environment. Apart from this, an internship program helps a student find his/her interest in a particular career and create a network of contacts. Some interns also find permanent employment with the same companies. 

What kind of infrastructure facilities are available in your CSE department of HITS?

Our CSE Department is among the well established departments of our college and it has state of the art equipment along with the modern labs that consist of around 1060 computers having the latest configuration. In addition to this, all computers are connected with high-end servers with licensed software par with present IT industry standards.

And, with the expertise of our well qualified, experienced, talented and doctorate faculty, we have adopted and implemented unique and innovative methods of learning and advanced teaching aids and technologies too have been integrated in the curriculum. 

What is your message for the outside world and how can they explore your college?

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

I would suggest to my dear students and ambitious youths of our society to regularly engage them in amazing projects, as it is a wonderful way to learn new things, enhance their existing skills and enrich resumes. Apart from this, you should make mini projects while learning a new language or any skill, because then only you will be able to understand its use case properly and build resilient problem-solving skills. So, don't get discouraged by challenges, keep working hard and stay persistent as success often requires a dedicated, committed and focused attitude towards goals.
