Mrs. Nupur Dubey is an Assistant Professor at the Astral Institute of Technology and Research. She holds a B.A., an M.A. in Sociology, an M.A. in Hindi Literature and a Diploma in Manufacturing Technology. Prior to her present employment, she worked in the industry for six months and in academia for two years.

What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?
My experience has been positive overall with this institute. I have a background in manufacturing, having completed a diploma in that field. However, due to family commitments, I decided to leave the industry. Transitioning to the education sector was a fulfilling choice for me. I began my journey as a teacher in schools before briefly working for a company. Eventually, I joined this college to teach a range of subjects such as arts, history, and Hindi across various undergraduate courses. Last year, I taught political science, and this year, I'm focusing on history and ancient history. Additionally, I lead classes in yoga and meditation, which tie into my involvement in the sports field. Overall, my experience with the institute has been enriching, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to students' education while balancing my personal and professional lives.
What are your roles and responsibilities?
I oversee sports activities periodically and actively participate in various events. For instance, I obtained permission from the traffic police for our children to participate in an event where we organised and chanted slogans. We manage multiple sports teams, including basketball, volleyball, cricket, and athletics. Jyoti Madam handles badminton practices, while I, being a state-level basketball player, oversee basketball activities. Additionally, I specialise in 100-1000 meters athletics and coach the students in that discipline.
How is your institute more welcoming towards students of diverse backgrounds?
We have a student from a rural area in the first year of the BA program. Despite being married and having a ten-year-old daughter, we support her. We also allow her to participate in competitions. Both she and our institute have seen significant improvement in studies and student growth. We strive to continue to do the same and provide comprehensive support to all students, especially girls from rural areas. Our goal is to create an educational environment that ensures every student, regardless of background, has access to quality education.

What do you think is the greatest strength of your institute?
All aspects of our institute are commendable. One of our strongest points is our transparent examination system. We do not provide any unfair advantages to students, ensuring that they earn their marks through their efforts. Internal assessments are conducted meticulously, evaluating students' attendance, performance, file submissions, and overall learning outcomes. Failure to meet these criteria results in a failed assessment. In essence, our institute's greatest strength lies in instilling a sense of accountability and hard work in our students, ensuring they understand the importance of their actions today for a successful future.
How do you balance teaching, sports management, and ensuring equal opportunities for students?
Balancing numerous responsibilities involves effective time management and delegation. One must also know sports management, collaborating with colleagues and providing support for students when they face challenges, such as time constraints due to personal responsibilities. It's also about maintaining a harmonious blend between academics, sports, and student welfare while promoting inclusivity.
Any suggestions you want to give to the current youth and aspiring students?
One significant concern nowadays is that children are often overly assisted in their studies, unlike in the past when there was more independence. Back then, we had to check our exam results in newspapers and actively enrol ourselves in courses. This required us to be more aware and responsible. Today, things are much easier, as you can enrol by simply filling out forms online, and many students receive scholarships without much effort. However, this convenience can lead to a lack of awareness and responsibility among students. Students must understand the value of education and not take it for granted. The current generation may face challenges like dependence on easy solutions. It's important to strike a balance by providing guidance and a bit of discipline. Encouraging students to take responsibility for their education and actions can help them develop into more independent and aware individuals.
