New Delhi: A student from the K K Birla Goa campus of BITS Pilani has secured an impressive annual salary package of INR 60.8 lakhs through campus placements. Ruturaj Godse, pursuing Computer Science Engineering, received this remarkable package from the multinational investment management firm, D E Shaw.

According to the official reports, this package represents a substantial increase of 35% compared to the highest domestic salary offered in the previous year. Furthermore, the BITS Pilani Goa campus witnessed a rise in the number of companies participating in placements, with approximately 280 companies actively recruiting students. This marks a 4% increase compared to the previous year, Balasubramanian said.

G Balasubramanian, the Chief Placement Officer for India and Dubai at BITS Pilani said that at the BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus, a remarkable achievement was witnessed as more than 90% of the 926 students who had registered for placements secured job offers this year. 

He also mentioned that among the registered students, an impressive count of over 79 individuals were offered salaries exceeding INR 40 lakhs per annum, marking a record high for the campus. This number, which represents students earning over INR 40 lakhs annually, has more than doubled compared to previous years, Balasubramanian revealed. 

During this year's BITS Goa Placement season, there was a significant uptick in the highest domestic salary offered at BITS Pilani Goa, seeing a remarkable 35% increase. Furthermore, the average salary exhibited notable growth, surging by nearly 9.4% from INR 19.2 lakhs to INR 20.9 lakhs per annum.

The commencement of the hiring season at the Goa campus unfolded positively with notable developments during the summer internship phase, which resulted in numerous interns securing full-time offers. 

R B Mouli, the head of placements at the Goa campus, reported that this success was primarily attributed to the high level of satisfaction expressed by companies regarding the talent pool. These commendable offers originated from renowned companies including Google, Microsoft, Uber, D E Shaw, Texas Instruments, Nvidia, and Exxon Mobil, among others.

Significantly, a substantial volume of offers were extended by global tech giants, with Amazon extending job opportunities to 32 students, Uber to 16, Microsoft to 17, Nutanix to 13, and Google to 7. In the IT domain, the average salary surged to INR 27 lakhs per annum. 

Furthermore, the core sector also experienced remarkable growth, with companies like Qualcomm hiring 25 students, Texas Instruments employing 21, MediaTek selecting 14, and Samsung Semiconductors offering positions to 8, among others. 

Interestingly, even prestigious consulting firms like BCG and McKinsey recruited undergraduates from the Goa campus for front-end consulting roles, while banks such as JP Morgan Chase and Co recruited students for finance positions, Balasubramanian added.
