New Delhi: Even though the High Court ordered the university to use a new assessment scheme and announce RGUHS results, final-year medical students at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Karnataka are still waiting for their results.

The All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) has asked the vice chancellor of RGUHS to investigate the situation due to the ongoing "trouble" that is being created for the MBBS students. Earlier this year, the MBBS students petitioned the Karnataka High Court for a revised assessment process. The verdict of the court favoured the students.

The action was brought by the students in regards to reevaluation and taking into account the average of the top two grades. But the lawsuit stretched on for five months.

Even though the court had permitted them, the university proceeded on a second appeal evaluating the matter, and yet again the court had dismissed the matter saying it was clear that the average of the best two must be taken into account. The entire legal process has been ongoing for two months, according to a tweet from AIMSA.

The student organisation asked the vice-chancellor to act right away out of concern for the future of the medical students. AIMSA stated that there are only 35 days remaining till exam results are released.

RGUHS proposed the new ordinance for assessment in April. After some time passed, the high court finally issued an order in November requiring the university to adopt the new plan and giving them two weeks to complete the re-evaluation and announce the updated results. The medical college has not yet released the students' scores, though.

Located in Bengaluru, India, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is a public, affiliating university that was established in 1996 by the government of Karnataka, India, for the supervision and development of higher education in health sciences throughout the state of Karnataka.
