Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) fees for international students vary according to study level. Annual tuition fees remain the same for all programs at each study level. TU Delft classifies fees in two categories: statutory rate and institutional rate. All non-Dutch/ EU/EEA, Swiss, and Surinamese international students (including India) are required to pay as per the institutional rate.
For Indian students, the annual tuition fees are:
In addition to the tuition fees, Indian students must budget for the cost of living. According to TU Delft, the estimated annual cost of living in Delft is 14,200 EUR (15.48 lakhs INR), including accommodation rent, food, utilities, and personal expenses. For the Netherlands student visa, you need to show financial proof of 1,130.77 EUR/ month (1.23 lakhs INR) to cover the living expenses.
TU Delft offers 100% tuition fee scholarships to international MSc students, but the opportunity is very limited and faculty-dependent. Indian students with over 80% marks in their bachelor’s are eligible for these scholarships. The university does not offer scholarships to international undergraduate students.
Indian students are entitled to pay the following fees, depending on their study level.
| Fee Category | MSc Fees (EUR/ INR) | BSc Fees (EUR/ INR) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard institutional rate | 25,633 (27.95 lakhs) | 19,906 (21.71 lakhs) |
| Transitional institutional rate | 23,404 (25.52 lakhs) | 18,175 (19.82 lakhs) |
The transitional institutional rate applies only if you stay continuously in the same program for a certain period of time. If you take a break or change programs, these rates no longer apply, and normal tuition rules will be used.
The following examples will present a clearer picture:

TU Delft allows paying the tuition fees in 9 installments, via the direct debit method. As Indian students are not allowed to use direct debit, they are directed to pay the total amount at once using the bank transfer method.
To study at TU Delft, students need to transfer the total amount, including tuition fees and living expenses, at the time of enrollment. Your residence permit application (visa application) will only be submitted after this payment is received by TU Delft. Then, the living costs will be refunded after the start of the academic year, once you have opened your Dutch bank account.

Chemical engineering in TU Delft is pretty tough. It is pretty difficult to score here and we need to take a lot more courses than we typically do for an MS in US. Thesis is compulsory. we have to do 8-10 months of thesis work which is quite rigorous.

The program itself is a very new study at the TU Delft and this automatically makes the syllabus quite updated. The courses and exams are quite challenging and require you to be regular with your self study and assignment submissions in order to keep your head above the water. Bachelor's students are given research experience at the end of their third year as part of the bachelor end project. This carries credit and is compulsory and an essential part in completing the study.
Ranking within top 100 in the world, high research output, good professors who did PhD and post-docs in reputed colleges, including ivy league colleges, affordable education, competitive environment, international-friendly place to live in, no language barrier, large indian community, BSA requirement which increases the standard of education, courses taught in english, offers a challenging honours program in the second year and minor abroad opportunity in the third year for students with good study progress, courses are challenging and not a cake-walk
Technical universities such as mine focus more on research and little on-field applications. It was a different but extremely useful learning. More fundamental research and in-depth scientific concepts were understood better with laboratory practice in addition to classroom teaching. We involve in academic membership which is completely different from what is found in India. We get to talk to the professionals ourselves and build contacts in the professional environment outside the university.
Lastly, the total fees for tuition and stay per year would be 30,000 euros per year. It is 18,000 for tuition and 12000 for stay and other expenses. Other expenses can change according to the lifestyle you wish to choose. (From 8500 euros/yr to 12000/yr)
The curriculum is up-to-date. The assignments are based on real-life data and projects, which the professors / academic staff are working on. It gives you a good glimpse of industry work and helps you gain confidence in working on real-life projects. There's also a compulsory internship component, in which you work at a company for a few months. Really good experience for those with zero industry experience. Also, you have the opportunity to work at any company in the world! Finally, a major portion of the degree is the master thesis. This project lasts for about 9 months usually, and you get to do research under the guidance of university professor and/or industry. There are also opportunities to get published and present at conferences.
The tuition fee was about 16000 euros per year. It usually takes two years to complete the degree.
