Long visa process is a time-consuming and expensive tedious application process. If you would like to take a PhD, definitely consider applying, as the integrated master's is an asset. A master's in Mechanical Engineering is a good course but it doesn’t offer many job opportunities in this sector. Faculty should consider more R&D roles that could help the international students get more experience and manage their finances for accommodation and food and travel. Universities should create more accommodation options for international students, as the housing is really expensive. University faculty should be aware of the students who are facing financial difficulties and have to manage their project and research thesis while managing their part-time jobs. My scores: GRE 290. I applied to the following universities: University of Limerick - Admitted - Got accepted with a scholarship of 2.5k euros National College of Ireland - Confirmed Admission - Didn't proceed with this as it has a poor QS ranking compared to other colleges in Ireland. Moreover, it is a college, not a university. Got shortlisted for the college, but I did not move forward with the application for this very reason. The University of Limerick is a sports hub among the universities in Ireland. It has a very good QS ranking, and the campus is quite big. The fees, when compared to other universities of the same ranking, were slightly less, around 19.3k without a scholarship. The admission process was implemented. Sent my academic details with my LOR and all. I had ielts of 7.5 also had a CGPA of 9.7/10. So got selected with a scholarship. Only IELTS was needed, and the minimum requirement was 6.5. Had to pay 50 euros while applying, and to secure my spot had to pay 600 euros. One challenge was that the time needed to get a reply from the university was. Apart from all that, everything was good and smooth. I applied for the fall intake in December 2024. I got the acceptance mail in January. It was quite fast. Once I paid the 600, I got the response fast. They were even considerate enough to extend the deadline to pay 600 euros to finalise my seat. The whole process took a month. I applied to the following universities: UCD, TUD, Trinity, UL, NUIG, UCC Status : I was shortlisted by three major ranking universities: the University of Limerick (UL), TUD and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). UCD, NUIG and UCC were already full and were not accepting new applicants. Confirmed admission : UL, TUD and TCD; UCD, NUIG: We're already full of students As I said, it was already full and was not accepting applicants. Also, I specifically wanted AI and ML masters, so I did not apply to most of the colleges in Ireland. UL was first to respond to my application; I also received a response from the Director Dr Nikola regarding my interest and courses. It had most of the courses I was looking for like Deep learning and Reinforcement Learning. Lastly, they offered me a Scholarship of 4000 Euros. First I had to fill out the form and submit it to them, followed by the SOP and LOR. I applied with the help of GO Ireland in India so they guided me in the entire process. I received the acceptance and condition letter from UL. Some experience in AI and ML, Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Engineering. IELTS above 6.5 band. Some of my friends were able to submit a Duolingo exam certificate and they accepted it during that time because it was Covid-19, but now I think they only accept IELTS. Overall experience was really good; we were advised and supported at every step during the admission process in India. UL also has a counsellor in New Delhi, who got in touch with us once we had an offer letter from the UL. The main challenge was covid-19 and vaccines, since we had Covaxin, and it was not WHO recognised at that time, but later luckily India was removed from the red list so we did not have to pay for the Hotel reservation for Isolation at the Dublin airport, which was mandatory for Indian students at that time. 2021 September intake. I applied to 3 and got selected for all three which were UL, UCD and TCD . I believe I got selected for all because I had very good grades and a good profile. I think to get selected, you need to submit a strong lor and a lot of emphasis on your profile. Instead of just showing academics, you need to add relevant experience too, which helps in boosting your profile. It was a college with a good reputation and they offered a 60% scholarship so it was very clear to me to chose UL , it was very evident that it really helped in getting my education fees to a decent amount so it was easy for me to just focus on my studies without thinking too much about the fees and loans. Also, UL has an excellent reputation; all the past students had only good things to say about the college. I chose UL because it's a one-year master's program, which is efficient and cost-effective. Limerick is also less expensive compared to major cities and, being away from the capital, it's less crowded. Moreover, for my course, this university ranks 3rd or 4th in Ireland, which is impressive considering the affordability. I have applied to 5 colleges out of which I was rejected from 2 colleges, shortlisted by 1 college, forgot the credentials for 1 college and didn't complete the documentation of the 5th one.  Also, I received confirmed admission from the University of Limerick along with a scholarship.  I received a rejection from 2 colleges which were based in Dublin ie. TUD and Maynooth University.  The competition in Ireland is already so much that rejection was expected. Almost, more than 2000 applicants all across the world had applied for this course in Ireland. So rejection was expected. Though my portfolio and work experience was a plus point but at times luck also matters. The University of Limerick is a complete world on its own. My main criteria while choosing universities were the infrastructure, student living, on-campus facilities, course modules along experiencing diverse communities all went well with UL. So I was happy with my decision. The admission process involved firstly with few documents like a college admission form, portfolio, cover letter and resume. Secondly, I had a 30-minute video interview on zoom with the course director where he told me out of 1000 applicants only 20 would be selected for this course. Thirdly, an admit letter along with a scholarship letter was mailed to me. The eligibility criteria were to take the IELTS /TOFEL exam and a bachelor's degree in design/engineering or computer science field. As I had given the IELTS exam I knew that a minimum of 6.5 was required to meet their requirements. The overall admission experience was very smooth with no hurdles such as the university was quite response to emails. I did apply for Fall intake. I did not have any such criteria for applying for any specific intake. Few people have specific intake preferences but I did not have any. UL was a breath of fresh air. It was a one off experience for me that I'll never have again in my life. That said, I really think the university can do better in terms of checking on their international students in terms of accommodation and actually bringing in the concept of placement. If these 2 can be taken care of, I think it'd become the most sought after university in Europe....Read More
