• Here we have a student hostel, which is run by university bodies, and I chose to live in that one. There are also external houses, but I would recommend staying in a student hostel. • Flat rents are higher, between €400 and €750.
• Limited supply of dorms, language, and competition for rentals are a challenge. These are mitigated by starting the search early and using official university resources. Finding accommodation in this region is always a big problem.

There is no campus recruitment in Germany. They have job fairs on the campus but they only provide info about the company, which you can find online as well.
• Online application is the most common method and many students get full-time jobs if they were working students at a company in their area of study. You will get multiple rejections without any explanations before you get a full-time job, even though you have all the skills. This is a very common experience for non-EU students, as per my knowledge.
• German proficiency might be more important than your courses themselves for most of the companies where the language of communication is German. Even if you have C1 German proficiency, you will not fully understand everyone, as there are many dialects of German.

• You have your own room but the washroom and toilet are shared with 1 or 2 other people. Kitchen is also shared by either 5 other people in 6 sharing or by 1 other person in 2 sharing. There are different options available.

• Unfortunately in Germany there is no such thing as job placement; you have to find the job on your own after completion of graduation. You can apply to jobs through various platforms like LinkedIn, Stepstone, Indeed, etc.

The monthly rent depends on the cities.
• Tier 1 cities have rent around €500, and tier 2 cities around €350. I would personally recommend applying for student hostels for cheap accommodation. The hostels are all around the city, and the rent depends upon the proximity of the university you live in; the rent is high around the university area. I stay at a distance of 30 mins with public transportation and I pay around 350.

• As Duisburg is one of the logistics hubs in germany, about 60% of students secure good jobs with an average salary of 50,000 Euros per year. Students need to find good companies for Internship of Working student jobs, where they can complete their master's thesis and can secure a job. There are other ways also, like applying through websites. But very good networking in Linkedin is necessary. Certifications are also very necessary to get good jobs. For logistics, Amazon and DHL are considered the best companies; it is also possible to join car companies through this course. There are numerous number of Logistics companies operating in Germany

• I applied for the hostel facility by the university. As there are long queues, students need to apply in advance. I applied at the end of June and got confirmation in September.
• All facilities like beds, mattresses, furniture, and kitchens with fridges, ovens, and microwaves are available. Internet connection is also available, one needs to carry Router for WIFI. All the hostels are pretty near to the university campus.

Students have to make contacts themselves, networking is the key to get good life here. But a lot of the students do get into BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Siemens, Bosch and many more.

As i mentioned, it's great if you are ready to integrate and understand and apply how things here work. You should really be passionate about doing good work here at the Uni to make your life better.

In my university and probably in most German universities, the placement is not taking place. You just need to go to various job fairs and apply for a job online. However, if you want to study further (PhD), you can enrol at any university after you get an offer from a professor and get a stipend from the government.

However, the university and department I am studying are very old, the exam system is very hard, as you need to pass the exams with a maximum of 3 attempts for a given subject. If you exceed that, you can be ex-matriculated and can been departed back to home country.

Many of us were placed but we don't have any campus placements. So no clue about it. But few of my friends got salaries in between 45000-65000€ per anum

It was very good experience for me to get graduated from such an old University. It gave me international experience and my university was student friendly in every aspect. I would recommend to learn German and apply for such a good university.

All main companies provide interhsips and placement services and around 87% graduates get placed after MS

Because I am intrested in research and development of automobile sector so selected Computational Mechanics stream and found this university as one the best in it.
