Likes
- I wanted to study biophysics. This was the only university which offered the course in Germany. Germany is zero tuition fee. And spoke to some seniors. Got an excellent review from them.
- Research facilities and the faculty. The faculty is world renowned and their connections help in getting further opportunities. The invited lectures are really insightful. State-of-the art equipment.
Dislikes
- Only few English taught courses. Although you can survive comfortably with only English. Somehow German is required to integrate with the local population. Feels like you are in this small comfortable university bubble. Need German to get out of it.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum is designed very well for someone who wants to pursue research (PhD) as next step in the career. You work in multiple labs to get exposure and finally choose your topic of interest for master thesis. You are also free to take a semester break and go to industry and gain some experience. The most amazing this is that you dont have to finish in 2 years. You can take some time to explore and be confident in whatever you want to do in life.
Fees
No tuition fees. But you pay around 300 euros per semester as student contribution to the transport facility (you can get free ticket for transportation in the entire state) and for student union, etc. this amount is minimal for what we receive. (in my opnion)
Likes
- My interest in the course was the top priority along with the all other opportunities.
- I am really fascinated by the international environment at the university and the broad range of opportunities available including sports offers, language courses, career workshops, cultural dinners/potlucks and many others.
Dislikes
- The university schedules classes between 7:00AM and 8:00PM depending on the course, and during winter it gets really difficult to make it to the classes be it early morning or late evening as it is very cold and dark in the morning and the sun sets at about 4:00PM in the evening.

- The main reason would be that my Bachelor's was a great match for this program. Moreover, the research going on in the institute was very good with a lot of competent researchers. The program was in English and there were students from all over the world.
- It has a great international community, with a lot of support towards research. There is a lot of associated institutes with specialised/interdisciplinary research going on that is accessible to the students. The living expenses are less compared to other German cities, but the amenities are great and accommodation is relatively easier to find if applied promptly.
Dislikes
- Masters courses that are in the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (Molecular bioengineering, physics of life and regeneration biology) are in another part of the city and doesn't really possess the student atmosphere seen in the main campus. Moreover, recently there has been a great increase in number of students, causing some issues in organisation of lectures and all.
Course Curriculum
It's updated every semester with most of the lectures following research going on instead of a particular text book or fixed study materials. We are able to directly participate in research work especially from third semester when we have a mini thesis to work on. There is a lot of effort going on to make the curriculum interdisciplinary as the research is also mostly done in collaboration between different research institutes.
Fees
There are no tuition fees but there is a semester contribution fee of 304.50 euros to be paid every semester. But that gives us access to student discount in canteens and free access to public transport in the state of Saxony.
Likes
- It's a reputed university with under 200 ranking. More than reputation, the program is very contemporary with excellent professors mentoring the students.
- Program I studied is in English thus there's no requirement of German proficiency. There's no tuition fees, just a minimal semester registration fee equivalent to around INR 24,000.
- There are abundant research assistant positions in all areas of study (scientific). It is located in a city which is student friendly meaning the cost of living is very affordable.
Dislikes
- The program is in English and one can complete their studies without any knowledge of German. However, if one wants to attend lectures from advanced courses, they need German proficiency. I wish there were more advanced courses taught in English.

Likes
- The university is one of the TU-9 (elite) universities of Germany with world ranking also around 160-170 (it fluctuates). On top of that the course was something I always wanted to study with a possibility to explore multidisciplinary fields.
- It is in the centre of the city with magnificient infrastructure and state of the art laboratories. The level of education is also excellent with extremely helpful academic as well as technical staffs. There are a lot of co-curricular as well as other opportunities. TUD have collaborations with universities all across the world which makes it very efficient for exchange programs to and from the university.
Dislikes
- This is mainly true for my department (hydroscience). When it comes to grading, they are very peculiar towards it. But this can be a good thing if you want to improve yourself as it will award you later on.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is very dynamic and include a lot of interaction within students, with the professor as well as adequate interaction with the industry and research institutes. Also there are a lot of courses and field to choose from and specialize into.
Fees
There is no tuition fee (at least that I am aware of). We have semester contribution around 300€/semester. It provides a semester ticket which helps you to travel in public transport free within your city and state (local trains and buses). Also it covers all co-curricular activities, laboratory fees, library fee, student association fee, entertainment fee and what not.
Likes
- The CMS program is one of the most interdisciplinary programs out there. I come from a background of Physics and wanted to transition towards Computers and this was ideal for me. TUD is one of the 11 universities of excellence in Germany and highly ranked.
- Infrastructure. Dresden is a small city and TUD has relatively very good infrastructure. The research in the field of Bioinformatics is incredible there. Thus, anyone who wants to combine CS and Biology would love to study here. The faculty of Informatics is also quite advanced in the study of XR related fields such as VR and AR. The university offers free German courses to all students which is incredible as most universities in Germany do not offer such free courses.
Dislikes
- TU Dresden has some extremely restrictive rules and bureaucracy which results in many things becoming way harder than they need to be. For example there is a course called Philosophy of Good Scientific practices. The rules of the course require you to attend each and every class until your group is called for presentation. This means a student cannot do an internship or semester abroad or plan any trip outside Dresden as long as this course is going on. Although the university has many international students, still most events are in German which restricts the international community from taking part in them.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is okay. It is moderately updated but could do better. I believe it is extremely theoretical and better for students who wish to pursue a PhD after their Master's. Otherwise it might not be as helpful as what you learn doing internships.

- It was the unique and interdisciplinary subject I got to chose and TU Dresden being one of the best when it comes to Computer Science oriented subjects. I wanted to shift to more computational side of things in Biology/Chemistry from just pure experimental stuff and TU Dresden provided me a perfect opportunity to do so.
- An ample amount of opportunities and the freedom to steer your education in the direction you want. Professors are supportive and very much approachable for anything you would need. A huge international crowd where you feel at home away from home but mostly for me, it is about the freedom I have with regards to everything that is selecting courses, doing projects in any direction I want to and so on and so forth.
Dislikes
- There is not much to be disliked about the university. Maybe there should be a standardisation of the difficulty level of subjects and the exams because each subject can feel very different in terms of difficulty.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum gets updated every semester and everything I have studied, I have found direct relevance in my projects and Practical opportunities. The academics are rigorous in any Public university in Germany, TU Dresden being no exception, perhaps even more rigorous. But that is exactly what makes you grow as a person, both personally and academically. The courses are very fundamental and mathematical oriented, so the foundations are very strong and implementing them for the projects/thesis is that much easier then.

Dislikes
- There is a popular opinion that since the university is situated in East Germany, it could be challenging to Non-German people as the natives can be a bit conservative. I myself have not faced any issue as such.
- The university is a bit spread out across the city , it will take around 20-30 mins to go from the CMCB campus to the main campus.
- The university doesn't offer any accomodation for students( which is the case for most of the public universities in Germany) but students can get cheaper accommodations offered by "Studentenwerk".

Curriculum was well structured , but because of Covid we had limited practical sessions. An entire semester is dedicated for research, and it greatly helped to expand my career and go for PhD

The Technical University of Munich is one of the best universities in Germany where you can pursue M.Sc Radiation Biology in English. To apply for this program, you must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university and complete the aptitude assessment procedure. You need sufficient English language skills if you wish to apply for this program. Evidence of your language proficiency has to be submitted before the end of the application deadline.
Technical University of Dresden does not offer English taught programs at the bachelor’s level. The university offers 22 English taught programs only at the master’s level.
No, you cannot apply for the Master of Science (M.Sc) program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy without completing a bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related program. You need a recognized university degree that qualifies for a profession of at least six semesters in psychology or a degree from a public or state-approved university of cooperative education in Psychology.
