Germany has become a new favourite study abroad destination for Indian students, with 60,000 enrolments last year. One of the major reasons for standing out is that most public universities in Germany do not charge any tuition fees (or a very small amount) from students. The universities charge a certain amount of semester contribution fees as administration costs and student services. Some of the popular universities featured by QS are: Technical University Munich (#22), Technical University Darmstadt (#253) and the University of Stuttgart (#320). There are many university-specific scholarships available in Germany for international students. One of the most prestigious government scholarships is the DAAD Scholarship, which covers a monthly stipend of EUR 992 (INR 1.08 lakh) for master’s students along with additional benefits.
