What Students Say
Likes
- I loved that Rennes was a small city and it is near by to a lot of places
- The overall quality of education
- Alumni support for the students and career workshops
Dislikes
- Lectures in different buildings which were far from each other
- College canteen food which has mostly pork in it
- French teacher didn’t start from basics which made it difficult to learn
Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- I had three different choices that I had to consider UK, US and Canada. I did not consider US as the funds were high at the point and couldn’t self sponsor it at that point.
- Second choice was Canada but that didn’t happen either because of the required score and UK was not giving a stay back more than 6 months that is the reason why I decided to go for France because the process was easier than other countries.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
I tried to take a cheaper education and research course and job prospects when considering these colleges, but the rejection was due to the lack of scores required to get into good and affordable universities with good ranking.

Tips to enhance your application
Overall tips is to provide documents which are genuine, paying the full tuition fees will enhance your chances of getting a visa and try to apply for scholarship as they had provided scholarships of 5000€ for everyone which I didn’t know earlier and I could have saved that amount.
Admission Experience
I chose France as my destination because of easy procedure and triple accredition and the overall quality of education and student alumini support I received from the university was excellent. Rennes is a small yet beautiful city to live in and really enjoyed the culture. There are opportunities to explore but learning the French language can open doors to opportunities you cannot imagine.
Class Schedule
There were around 3-4 days college per week which is at times 5-6 hours a day or sometimes less but hey have 5-10 min break after every 1 hour lecture. And Lunch time break for an hour. You have enough time in your day to work on assignments and homework given for the week and focus on other activities.
Faculty
The faculty member are very helpful and respond back very quickly and try to help you out with any queries. Their career workshops help build the community network with people. My professor was really helpful when I had missed the subject due to issues and where I had to travel to Budapest but they made arrangements for me separately for the subject.
Campus Life
They had number of extra curricular activities to participate in like plays, sports etc. There were fests organised by the community and parties in the college. There is a gym, game room to relax yourself which was accessible to everyone with the student card.
Part Time Jobs
- The average wage is 11-12£ per hour and you can work for 20 hours per week. But there is an expectation during vacation which is usually 3-4 months after your first semester you can work full time.
- The process to apply is LinkedIn, welcome to the jungle and other job portals like indeed.
- Part time jobs are available for students in Rennes but as it’s a small city opportunities becomes limited and usually Indians work at kebab station, McDonald’s etc and the hourly wage was 11-12€ per hour back in 2020 and 20 hours is maximum you could work.
Placement
- Getting your first job is the toughest I can say because there are some language barriers. If your job requires to speak the language the advice is to consider learning to language from your home country to better your chances.
- The student alumni does help in CV building and networking but in the end it’s your skills and language which can take you a long way.
Accommodation
There is a requirement of France which is called as a gurantor. So basically that person can be a French citizen or French relatives who becomes your guarantor that they are letting you rent or live in your apartment. Normally agencies charge fees for it. Studapart was one of the platform I used to rent my apartment. And the best thing about renting an apartment in France when you are a student is that the government will give you concession of amount in CAF and it depends on the amount of rent you are paying. For eg. my rent was 470€ as I was living in a studio apartment I got 170€ back from the government.
