TBSE Passing Marks Criteria 2026

To pass the TBSE Bachhar Bachao Pariksha, students must meet the minimum marks in both the theory component and the practical / internal assessment component of each subject separately. You must score at least 30% in the theory paper and at least 30% in the practical or internal assessment; and your combined total must be at least 33% per subject (33 out of 100) to secure Grade D, the minimum passing grade. Internal assessment and practical marks from the main board exam are carried forward to the compartment exam. Is 24 a passing mark out of 80 in TBSE?

Yes. For subjects with 80 marks in theory (First Language, English, Mathematics, Social Science), the minimum passing mark in the theory paper is 24 out of 80, which is 30% of the theory marks. However, securing 24/80 in theory alone does not guarantee passing the subject. Your combined total (new theory marks + original internal marks) must reach at least 33 out of 100 to earn Grade D. If your internal assessment marks from the main exam were already 6 or above, you only need to focus on crossing 24 in theory — but aim higher to ensure the subject total comfortably crosses 33.

What Happens After Passing or Failing the TBSE Compartment Exam?

If you PASS the Bachhar Bachao Pariksha:

• TBSE issues a revised marksheet showing your updated scores for the subject(s) in which you appeared in the compartment exam.
• Your result status changes from “Compartmental” to “Pass (Compartment)” on the revised marksheet.
• If your updated total crosses a higher division threshold, your final division (First, Second, Third) improves accordingly.
