TN NEET 2025 Round 3 registration and resignation last date has been extended as per AIQ counselling. Detailed counselling schedule will be out soon! 

  • TN NEET UG Counselling 2025 round 3 seat allotment result will be released on October 18, 2025. Shortlisted candidates must download the allotment order and report by October 27, 2025.
  • TN NEET Counselling 2025 Round 1 and 2 allotment results were published on 18th August and 24th September, 2025, respectively.

The Counselling process of Tamil Nadu is divided into state quota and private college seats.

  • The Government medical colleges offer 85% of seats under the state quota, whereas the management and NRI quota take 100% of private medical colleges.

How much NEET score is required for MBBS in Tamil Nadu?

As per the previous years' trends, the expected NEET cutoff 2025 scores to take admission into MBBS in Tamil Nadu are:

  • General Category (Open): Approximately 715–725 marks
  • OBC, SC, ST Categories: Approximately 665–675 marks

How to get MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu?

To get an MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu, the candidates should achieve a valid NEET-UG score; the minimum qualifying marks vary as per the category.

  • General (UR): Expected cutoff around 610–640
  • Backward Classes (BC): Approximately 580–610
  • Most Backward Classes (MBC): Around 540–580
  • Scheduled Castes (SC): Approximately 450–500
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): Around 350–420

The candidate should meet the eligibility criteria to get the MBBS seat in Tamil Nadu, which is

the age of the candidate should be 17 years as of December 2025, should have passed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, securing at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC) and the candidate should have a Domicile certificate for the 85% state quota.

The candidate has to participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 to take admission into a total of 12,050 MBBS seats across 86 colleges, with 5,450 seats in government colleges and 6,600 in private colleges.

Tamil Nadu NEET 2025 Counselling Process

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) will start the registration for Round 1 of the Tamil Nadu NEET 2025 Counselling Process from the 3rd week of August 2025. The candidates must register for the Tamil Nadu Counselling 2025 on their online portal.

The candidates with the State Quota (85%), can apply from the official website of the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection. The candidates need to create an account and they should have the domicile certificate as the primary document to apply for the Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025.

7.5% Horizontal Reservation for Government School Students: To encourage students from government schools, 7.5% of medical seats are reserved for those who have studied from Class VI to XII in Tamil Nadu government schools.

Tamil Nadu NEET 2025 State Quota Reservation (85% of Government Seats)

The Tamil Nadu NEET 2025 State Quota Reservation system allocates 85% of the government medical seats to various categories. The General (UR) category candidates receive the highest number of allocations, with 31% of the seats reserved.

The Backward Classes (BC) candidates are allocated 26.5%. The Backward Classes Muslim (BCM) are given a less, but significant share of 3.5%. In contrast, the Most Backward Classes (MBC) are allocated 20%, ensuring that candidates from this category have a fair chance at taking admission into MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu NEET Cutoff 2025

The expected Tamil Nadu NEET Cutoff will vary across the type of colleges and the different categories,

For MBBS in government colleges, the General category candidates are expected to have the highest cut-off of 610–640 marks, whereas the Backward Class (BC) candidates will have a cut-off of 580–610 marks. The Reserved categories like SC and ST are expected to have a lower cut-off, ranging from 350 to 500 marks.

In private medical colleges, the Government Quota has a cut-off of 520–580 marks, while the Management Quota and NRI Quota have much lower cut-offs, ranging from 250 to 450 marks. For BDS courses, the cut-offs for government colleges are 550–590 marks for the General category, while the Management Quota for private dental colleges has a cut-off range of 280–400 marks.

To participate in the Second round of counseling, you must register for it before the deadline. However, the application deadline for the Second round of counseling was August 22, 2023. But you can register and participate in the Mop Up round of counseling.

Tamil Nadu NEET counseling 2023 is currently going on for the second round. The official dates for Mop Up Round has not bee announced yet, Students who are not allotted and joined any seats under All India Quota or previous rounds of State Quota can participate in the Mop-up round of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2023.

Along with non-refundable counselling fee of INR 500, students also have to pay the security deposit according to their admission seat. There is no security deposit for government medical and dentals colleges. But the secuirty deposit for government quota seats in self-financing Medical or Dental Colleges is INR 30000.
