PTE scoring is done using responsible AI as well as trained human raters. You can see your score and a detailed report by logging into your myPTE account. You can also send your scores to as many schools or institutions as you want, for FREE. The scores remain valid for 2 years.

As per Pearson, PTE scores are accepted by over 3,900 universities worldwide, including top universities like Oxford, Harvard, and Yale. The US, Australia, Canada, the UK, and New Zealand also accept PTE results for visa applications.

How Are PTE Scores Calculated?

PTE Academic (used for university admissions and student visas) is scored both by computer-based systems using responsible AI and human examiners, ensuring fast, unbiased, and consistent results. Scores are awarded based on both accuracy and overall language quality, depending on the question type.

Some questions follow a correct-or-incorrect format, where full marks are given only for the right answer. Others allow partial credit, especially in Speaking and Writing, where candidates can earn marks for correct content, clear pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary.

PTE reports scores for the 4 main skills: Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening, on a 10-90 scale. In addition, enabling skills such as grammar, pronunciation, oral fluency, spelling, and vocabulary are also scored. The overall PTE score (10-90) is calculated using an algorithm that considers performance across all questions and skills, not just a simple average of section scores.
