What is NU DET 2026?

NU DET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for NU DET, you must check if you meet the eligibility requirements set by the Institute of Design, Nirma University. The criteria are straightforward — there is no subject or stream restriction, and candidates from Science, Commerce, and Arts are all eligible.

Academic Qualification

You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with a minimum 50% aggregate marks. If you hold a 10+3 Diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education, you are also eligible, provided you have at least 50% aggregate in the diploma examination.

Stream in Class 12

Nirma University does not require you to have studied any specific subjects in Class 12 for B.Des admission. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts backgrounds are all equally eligible. The only academic requirement is the 50% aggregate mark.

Appearing Candidates

If you are currently in Class 12 and your board results have not yet been declared, you can still apply on a provisional basis. Your admission will be confirmed only after you submit your final Class 12 marksheet showing at least 50% aggregate at the time of document verification.

Age Limit

There is no minimum or maximum age limit for NU DET 2026. Any candidate who has completed or is appearing in the qualifying examination can apply.

UCEED Route Eligibility

If you have a valid UCEED 2026 score (from IIT Bombay’s national design entrance test held in January 2026), you can apply for B.Des admission at Nirma University using that score instead of NU DET. NRI and International Candidates

The NU DET Phase II Merit List II was released on May 20, 2026. It covers all candidates who appeared in the Phase II exam on May 10, 2026 and completed the Situation Test and Personal Interview on the same day. Candidates shortlisted in Merit List II must now complete their admission confirmation steps before July 1, 2026.

How Is the NU DET Merit Score Calculated?
