ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria
You should check the ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 eligibility criteria before applying. The eligibility depends on your nationality, your Bachelor’s degree and your marks. Reading these rules early helps you avoid rejection at the verification stage.
Nationality and Age
- You must be an Indian citizen.
- You should have completed 19 years of age as on the date fixed by ICAR. There is no upper age limit for the exam.
Educational Qualification
- You must hold a Bachelor’s degree of 4, 5 or 6 years in the relevant agriculture or allied science subject.
- General, OBC, UPS and EWS candidates need at least 60% marks or an OGPA of 7.50 out of 10.00 (or 3.75 out of 5.00).
- SC, ST and PwBD candidates need at least 50% marks or an OGPA of 6.60 out of 10.00 (or 3.30 out of 5.00).
- Final-year students can also apply if they expect to finish their degree before admission.
The eligibility for each PG subject is linked to your Bachelor’s degree stream. For example, an Agriculture graduate can apply for many plant-science and agronomy subjects, while a Veterinary graduate applies under animal sciences. You should check Annexure-III of the Information Bulletin to match your degree with the right subject group.
You should confirm your subject-wise eligibility from the official bulletin before choosing your major subject group in the form.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Exam Pattern
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 exam pattern is simple to understand. The exam is held in computer-based test (CBT) mode. You get a single paper with 120 multiple choice questions, and you have to finish it in 120 minutes. Knowing the pattern early helps you plan your speed and accuracy.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Mode | Computer-Based Test (CBT) |
| Duration | 120 minutes (2 hours) |
| Total Questions | 120 multiple choice questions |
| Total Marks | 480 |
| Marks per Correct Answer | +4 |
| Negative Marking | -1 for each wrong answer |
| Medium | English |
| Type | Subject-specific based on chosen major group |
Each question carries 4 marks, and you lose 1 mark for every wrong answer. Because of negative marking, you should avoid blind guessing. There is no mark deducted for an unanswered question, so leave a question blank if you are unsure.
The paper is set according to the major subject group you choose during the application. So your questions will match your subject area, such as Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering or Social Sciences. This makes ICAR AIEEA PG a focused, subject-based test rather than a general one.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Syllabus
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 syllabus is based on your undergraduate course. There is no single fixed syllabus for everyone. Instead, your questions come from the Bachelor’s level topics of the major subject group you select in your form.
ICAR groups all PG subjects into around 20 major subject groups. Each group has several sub-subjects. You appear for the test of the group linked to your degree. The most common major subject groups include:
- Plant Sciences: Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Soil Science.
- Physical Sciences: Agricultural Physics, Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Statistics.
- Animal Sciences: Animal Nutrition, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Veterinary subjects, Dairy Science.
- Horticulture: Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture, Post-Harvest Technology.
- Social Sciences: Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness Management.
- Forestry, Fisheries and Home Science (Community Science) as separate groups.
You should prepare from your graduation notes and standard ICAR textbooks for your subject. Since the questions are at the undergraduate level, a strong revision of your degree syllabus is the best strategy. You should also focus on the core concepts of your chosen sub-subject, as most questions test your basics.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Admit Card
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 admit card is not released yet. NTA will upload it later on exams.nta.nic.in/icar. Based on past trends, you can expect it in the last week of June 2026, a few days before the 4 July exam.
You will be able to download the admit card by logging in with your Application Number and password. The admit card will mention your exam city, date, shift, reporting time and exam-day rules. You must carry a printed copy of the admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam centre.
- You should check all details on the admit card, such as name, photo, category and exam centre.
- If you find any error, you must contact NTA at once before the exam.
- You should reach the centre well before the reporting time, as late entry is not allowed.
No candidate will be allowed to take the exam without a valid admit card and photo ID. Keep both ready before exam day.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Result
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 result is not declared yet. The exam is scheduled for 4 July 2026, so the result is expected after that. In 2025, the exam was held on 3 July and the result was declared on 12 August. A similar timeline of around five to six weeks is likely this year.
NTA will publish the result on its website. You will be able to download your scorecard by logging in with your Application Number. The scorecard shows your marks, All India Rank and category rank. Before the result, NTA usually displays the question paper and a provisional answer key, where you can raise objections against any answer.
- The result decides your rank and your eligibility for ICAR counselling.
- There is no re-checking or re-evaluation of the answer sheet after the result.
- Your rank in the result is the base for seat allotment during counselling.
Since the result is yet to come, you should keep checking the official website after the exam. Do not trust any unofficial scorecard or rank list until NTA declares the result.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Cutoff
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 cutoff is not released yet. It will be announced after the result and during the counselling stage. The cutoff is the minimum rank or score needed to get a seat in a particular university and subject through ICAR counselling.
The cutoff depends on a few key factors each year. You should understand these so you can judge your chances better:
- Difficulty of the paper: A tougher paper usually lowers the cutoff for that subject.
- Number of candidates: More candidates in a subject group raise the competition and the cutoff.
- Seats available: Subjects with fewer seats tend to have higher cutoffs.
- Category: The cutoff is different for General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwBD candidates.
The cutoff also varies from one university to another. Top institutes like IARI, NDRI and IVRI usually have the highest cutoffs because all their seats are filled through this exam. You should aim for a high rank if you want a seat in these institutes.
The qualifying rank list is prepared by NTA, but the final admission cutoff for each university and subject is decided during ICAR counselling.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Counselling and Seat Allotment
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 counselling will be conducted by ICAR after the result. The schedule will be announced on icar.org.in or on the ICAR counselling portal. The counselling is fully online and is held in multiple rounds.
You should qualify the exam and feature in the merit list to take part in counselling. Seat allotment is based on your rank, category, subject choice and seat availability. The main steps in ICAR PG counselling are:
- Registration: You register on the ICAR counselling portal and pay the counselling fee.
- Choice Filling: You fill and lock your choices of university and subject in order of preference.
- Seat Allotment: ICAR allots seats based on your rank and choices.
- Reporting: You accept the seat, pay the fee and report to the allotted university.
ICAR fills 30% of the Master’s seats in State Agricultural Universities through this counselling. It also fills all seats of the four ICAR Deemed Universities and some Central Agricultural University seats. So qualifying ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 is your route into these reputed institutes.
The counselling dates are not announced yet. You should wait for the official ICAR notification after the result before planning your choices.
Participating Universities and Seats
The ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 exam opens the door to more than 75 universities across India. Together they offer over 11,000 PG seats in agriculture and allied sciences. You should know which universities take part so you can plan your counselling choices.
| Type of University | Number | Seat Share Filled Through ICAR AIEEA PG |
|---|---|---|
| State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) | 64 | 30% of PG seats |
| ICAR Deemed Universities (IARI, IVRI, NDRI, CIFE) | 4 | 100% of PG seats |
| Central Agricultural Universities | 3 | Up to 100% in RLBCAU Jhansi and Dr. RPCAU Pusa |
| Central Universities with Agriculture Faculty | 4 | As per university quota |
The four ICAR Deemed Universities are the most sought-after. IARI New Delhi is known for crop sciences, NDRI Karnal for dairy science, IVRI Bareilly for veterinary research, and CIFE Mumbai for fisheries. Since all their seats go through this exam, the competition for them is high.
You can choose your preferred university and subject during counselling based on your rank. A higher rank gives you a better chance at the top institutes. So your goal should be to score well and rank high in ICAR AIEEA PG 2026.
ICAR-PG Scholarship and National Talent Scholarship
Qualifying ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 also makes you eligible for the ICAR-PG Scholarship. This is a key benefit of taking the exam, as it supports you financially during your two-year Master’s programme.
- ICAR-PG Scholarship: The scholarship is around Rs. 12,640 per month for two years. You also get a contingency grant of about Rs. 6,000 per year for books, chemicals and research-related needs.
- National Talent Scholarship (PG): Candidates who join a Master’s programme in a university outside their home state can get a National Talent Scholarship of about Rs. 5,000 per month for two years.
The scholarship is paid from the date you register for your Master’s programme. You should check the exact conditions in the Information Bulletin, as the scholarship has rules about your subject, university and domicile state. This financial support is one big reason why ICAR AIEEA PG is popular among agriculture graduates.
ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Preparation Tips
With the ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 exam on 4 July 2026, you have a little over a month left to prepare. You should use this time wisely to revise your undergraduate subject. Here are some simple preparation tips that can help you score better.
- Revise your degree syllabus: The questions come from your Bachelor’s level topics. So focus on your graduation notes and ICAR textbooks for your subject.
- Stick to your major subject group: Prepare deeply for the subject group you chose in your form, instead of studying everything.
- Practice MCQs: Solve previous year question papers and mock tests to get used to the CBT format and timing.

- Work on speed: You have to attempt 120 questions in 120 minutes. So aim for about one minute per question during practice.
- Revise in the last week: Use the final days for quick revision of formulas, definitions and key concepts of your subject.
