Ques. How is the placement package for M.Tech students from IISC, Bangalore?
● Top Answer By Mohit Gupta on 12 Feb 24
Ans.IISc Bangalore is famous for its research-oriented environment. Earlier it focused only on academic research. But in recent years, it has also started giving attention to industry placements. Most of the reputed companies that visit IITs and BITs, also come to IISc for placements. All the IISc students end up with good packages, irrespective of their course/branch. The median CTC for IISc students was 28 LPA during 2023 placements. The placement process of IISc starts before the IITs, which is a great advantage for its students. The MTech placements are good enough at IISc. But its grading system is very tough. You’ll have to work hard to maintain a good GPA over there. With a top GPA, you can expect at least 10 LPA as your placement package at IISc. This is applicable for all branches- CSA, SERC, DESE, ECE and EE.Read more

Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (AI) at IISc Bangalore?
● Top Answer By Gaurav Shaha on 14 Jul 23
Ans.There are many points of difference between IISc MTech CSE and MTech AI. Some of them have been listed below M.Tech CSE is the flagship M.Tech program from CSA whereas the M.Tech AI program is a new program that has been recently introduced by the EECS division. There is a huge difference in the curriculum of both programs. Although both programs require 64 credits, the breakdown is different. For MTech CSE the department core requires a minimum of 24 credits comprising at least 8 credits each from Pool A, Pool B, and Pool C There is a project too. The remaining credits are for electives. The M.Tech AI course on the other hand has 19 credits from pool A subjects, 12 credits from pool B subjects, and 12 credits from electives. Additionally, there is a 21-credit project where one can work on interdisciplinary cutting-edge problems on AI. M.Tech CSE admissions are done on the basis of GATE CS scores while the cut-off for M.Tech AI is decided by the applications from CS, EE, and ECE disciplines. It's natural for a CSE B.Tech student who isn't certain of specializing in theory, systems, or AI, to go for an M.Tech (CSE). The curriculum is flexible and you can even choose electives or work on AI projects. But if you are certain o your inclination towards AI then M.Tech (AI) is an excellent choice.Read more
Ques. Is IIIT Lucknow a good option for doing an M.Tech or not?
● Top Answer By Vipul Singh on 18 Mar 21
Ans.The M.Tech program in Computer Science (CS) at IIIT Lucknow is worth considering if you cannot get into other similar institutions such as IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Bangalore, IIIT Allahabad, NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Karnataka. Though the M.Tech program started only in 2019, companies such as Google, Microsoft, Directi, LinkedIn, Codenation, etc. visit the campus for placements of B.Tech students. So if you are skilled enough, it does not really matter if you are a B.Tech or M.Tech student. The placement records of B.Tech graduates suggest that they are comparable to NIT Calicut, NIT Rourkela, and IIIT Allahabad graduates. In fact, looking at the NIRF data of colleges such as IIIT Allahabad, it is clear that M.Tech students are more in demand in the industry due to lack of quality students along with their added research experience in the field. The curriculum of the course is also very well designed, offering specializations in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. These are the most demanding subjects in the industry currently and if you study well enough, securing a job should not be difficult. As this is a new course, you will not get the alumni advantage, the first batch is yet to pass-out, you could still connect with your B.Tech alumni as well as alumni from IIIT Allahabad (both the colleges were on the same campus until very recently). Alternatively, you could also hang out with your B.Tech peers and learn from them as well, because they have a very well-laid-out course structure along with a very competitive culture in coding. You should also consider studying with the PhDs as the knowledge and in-depth research they conduct in areas such as Machine learning will eventually help you to get a competitive advantage. So all in all, IIIT Lucknow is a very good option for doing an M.Tech which will sharpen your skills and prepare you for the journey ahead.Read more
Ques. How was your interview experience at Computational and Data Sciences CDS IISc Bangalore for Ph D and M Tech Research program?
● Top Answer By Pratik Parikh on 17 Jul 23
Ans.I cleared the written test for M.Tech Research in CDS at IISc Bangalore. After that, I was scheduled for an interview with a three-member panel. It lasted for 50 minutes. Upon arriving at the IISc Bangalore campus for the interview, we were allowed inside after 8 am. My degree certificate and Aadhar were checked before allotting me the room and panel.I had to wait for around 3 hours before my interview. My preferences were DREAM Lab, MARS Lab, and VCL Lab.The interviewers looked at the form that I had filled out, read all that was written to me, and proceeded to ask me some basic questions based on my responses. I mentioned having studied C++, data structures, and scheduling algorithms. The first professor asked me a question about finding an element in an unsorted array. He kept asking me basic questions throughout this time. Another professor asked me a question about scheduling algorithms. He asked me to prove mathematically my assertion that SJF is optimal and that no other algorithm can give a better performance than it. The third professor asked me questions on system calls, user/kernel mode, and whether the addition expression in C++ program also has some underlying system call. Though I could not clear the interview, it was an enriching experience for me. It helped me gain more confidence and to look at things from a different perspective.Read more
